Jayson Shaw victim or defeated foe

Does anyone know what particular rules were designated to apply to the tournament? I looked at the worldstraightpool website and didn't see anything on point. Did I overlook something or was it specified elsewhere or at the tournament? The official BCA rules (Pool Billiards - The Rules of...

Jayson Shaw victim or defeated foe

No. And for an interesting ending, perhaps Earl is outraged and will run 300 and out in the final. :D

    blue diamond chalk

My favorite brand of chalk is Blue Diamond also. I was using Master and have used many other brands over the years, but I find that Blue Diamond works as well as the others but leaves less residue on the table, cue, cue ball and my hands.

    Vacuum cleaner?

I use the small Shop Vac (2.5 gal) from Lowe's. I think it is called the "hang up portable" and is 2.5 hp. I use it with the brush end. I bought the separate 12' hose and tossed the one that came with the vac - it is more flexible and the extra length comes in handy. This vac works well and...

    Frey cues

The butt on my Frey is on the thinner side (thinner than my Schon and Joss).

Hopped on the Frey SP band wagon

I have had one for 8 months or so and really like it. Mine has a solid hit also and is well-balanced. It is slightly softer hitting than my Schon and Joss and the butt is slightly thinner. Mine is 19 oz with no weights. I may have to try one of the harder hitting models. :D I live less...

What's the pool world going to be like in 50 years?

That is what I am thinking. It will mostly be people 100 to 125.

What's the pool world going to be like in 50 years?

Older. Lots of old people playing.

    Frey, Tiger or Predator Sneaky?

My vote is for Frey also. I like mine a lot and am considering adding another. Poolplay9's two long osts above are spot on if you have access to try various cues. If not (like most of us), reviewing people's descriptions is a good guide. I selected a Joss and a Frey sneaky this way and am...

    need some new house cues

Sorry for not answering your actual question, but you might look at Cuetec. They have a good feel and will be straight.

How To Video Yourself Playing Pool?

How does your camcorder work for the taekwondo and school plays? I imagine the motion and the lower light are where it has to work hardest to get a good picture.

How To Video Yourself Playing Pool?

One of these setups seems to be the way to go with a phone, and a couple of people have suggested similar setups above. I will be interested to see how you like this unit. It seems to have a number of other uses even if you move on to a different video system. I have tried leaning my phone...

How To Video Yourself Playing Pool?

Thanks for the detailed, thoughtful reply. I should have said the videos will be taken at home and I have plenty of additional light that I can provide to avoid low light issues. The cloth is traditional green Simonis 860 in good condition. I appreciate your pointing out a number of...

How To Video Yourself Playing Pool?

It seems like a mix of phones and camcorders, each on tripods. I think I will get a small tripod and holder for my phone and then decide from there what else makes sense for better videos. Thanks.

How To Video Yourself Playing Pool?

How do you video yourself playing pool? What camera do you use (phone, camcorder or regular camera and what model)? Do you use a tripod (floor mount or smaller) or wall mount and what model? What additional lighting, other setup, etc.? I imagine a lot of people use their phone and...

Please recommend a builder for this cue

Did you come to a decision? Joss has a reputation for lively and hardhitting cues, and my Joss is much livelier and crisper than my Frey, which is why I suggested you consider the Joss. I certainly can understand why you might prefer a smaller builder given the amount of money you are...

    The BIG Mezz shaft thread!

What is the difference between the Mezz MSP-MT and the ZZSP? Also, how do those two SPs differ from the EC7-P, K, WMB, and WKK? Is it all cosmetic? Thank you.

Any more info on Capone? Joss is worth considering also.

Opportunity missed to play with Orcollo

Perhaps they know people appreciate the opportunity to play them even in a losing cause and are nice enough to create a memory for players for a reasonable cost. Sort of like an exhibition or a pro-am sporting event. As some said, it worth a certain amount to watch them play so close up.

can someone explain Joss cues. some are expensive, some aren't. the letter styles?

This is the right answer. I like my Joss cue a lot (I bought it a couple of months ago). It plays very well, has a nice, firm hit, and feels lively. It is very consistent from hit to hit and I don't feel any dead spots, looseness, vibrations, etc. Like Schon, Joss cues have a reputation for...
