Yes, it has. Surprised to see people still here from those days. The new people here would never believe that Joe Rogan used to post here, lol.

Yeah, he played mostly 1 pocket. My dad gave him the 4-out in 9 ball for $100 a rack and Archie quit about $1500 down. He made money playing 1 pocket with a few guys who got tight playing him because they had never bet so high.

Archie came thru my dad's pool hall right before his big run in Vegas. His story is well documented, I remember the local news in LA even cutting away from programming one day to show this guy playing craps at Binions. It was said at one time he held every $1000 chip that Binions had. Anyway...

NEW pool room - Key West

I used to go to Stick and Stein 20+ years ago when I was stationed in Key West. Honestly it was a better sports bar than pool hall imo.

80's "Chem" Players & "Mexican" Ron Rosas discussed on The Troubled Men Podcast!

I remember watching Ron Rosas play when I was a teenager. Back in the late 80's early 90's, the LA area had a ton of monster players, and I'd say he was in the top 5-10. I used to go Hard Times to watch my dad play in the Sunday tournaments, he and Ron Rosas played several times in tournaments...

Memorial for Richard ( dickie the Blond Bomber ) Renk on 01/07/17 in Vegas

I remember Dickie came up to play in a tournament my dad was hosting in our families pool hall back in the early 90's. All the SoCal local pro's had shown up and Dickie was hitting the balls really good at the time. Dickie got to playing for the hot seat against Jose Parica and got up to a 4-0...

    Frank Boyce

My Grandfather Frank Boyce has passed today at the age of 89. Frank owned Boyce's Billiards in Stockton, California for close to 10 years during the 60's and 70's. He later opened Boyce's Billiards in Fallon, NV in 1989 which he turned over to my uncle John a few years later. He was a well known...

I second the recommendation for Family over Jillians. Honestly I didn't even know that Jillians was still there.

    My Friend Ronnie Allen

Keith, I remember you and Ronnie coming up to my dads pool hall in Hesperia, Ca about 20 years ago. Watching you and Ronnie work was something special that I'll never forget. I remember at the time thinking I was watching 2 of the all time greats doing their thing, little did I know that you two...

Should pros be allowed to sell products on the main forum?

There should be a vendor section in the forum.

    Joe Rogan

I agree and I'm sure he'd do pool just as well as he does UFC. We need some some mainstream pool exposure and I think he could be the one to deliver that.

F/S BLACKBOAR CUSTOM CUE AS-5 model

Wow my dad has a very similar 4pt cocobolo, I'm sure he'd be surprised to know the cue is worth double what he paid for it back in '90. I believe he also has a 6pt with a bit more ivory in it. I'm gonna have to let him know what the market is for Black Boar cues these days.

Should pool be fun or work?

If you work hard at it, you will play better, which is fun.

Why do people in the pool hall come up to you and want to play you but want weight?

The way I came up, you had to earn a spot. Either by losing to the person you're playing or by being known to go off with others. Either way, you usually had to lose some money before anyone starts offering anything to you.

Recommendation for a table mechanic/mover in Socal (San Gabriel Valley)

$375 doesn't seem like a bad deal for what he's looking to have done. Its definitely a two man job and will take a full day to complete.

Noteworthy Absentees from this year's U.S. Open

Wow I was totally unaware that it was no longer a pool room. My grandpa opened Boyce's back in 1965. Although the room was never the same after he sold in the early 70's, it comforted me to know that it was still a poolroom after all these years. I spent my mid to late teens in my dads pool...
