Making Pool a Product People Want to Watch!

A game with less safety play would be useful. Safety play is hard, and when you do it well, it still doesn't look very impressive to the untrained eye. I play multiple racks of 3-ball with a running score. 18-racks generally make up a match. If you are down four strokes with 3 racks left to...

    Question about Golf pool game

It is a fun game. I like it because it gives me a way to track how my game ebbs and flows. It is interesting to look when you have a week where you are shooting high scores versus weeks you are shooting low scores, and then go back and think about what was going on in those weeks. It is amazing...

Write and throw right handed but play pool&golf lefty...

Check to see which eye is dominant. I write right handed but shoot pool and a gun left handed. I came to it naturally, but later learned that my left eye is dominant. If you don't know how to check which eye is dominant, pick a point on the wall, point your finger at it. Cover one eye, note...

    Pool themed chain sport bars

I'm guessing in a lot of places, the amount of net revenue a pool table takes in versus the amount of floor space it consumes is a lot lower than the amount of revenue the bar or a tabletop produces per square foot, for example. Pool needs to figure out how to increase the amount of per square...

Table Difficulty Factor (TDF) for measuring table "toughness"

My 9-foot Brunswick Anniversary comes in at 1.07. Everything was average except the pocket angle figure. Thanks for the system. Kind of neat to check

Info on a new defunct tour?

As user AtLarge said, Mike Page has a really excellent post about the difference between head-to-head pool games and those that are based on a scoring system. (IE, lowest number of strokes in 3-ball, highest run in 9-ball, etc.) The post is here...

Info on a new defunct tour?

Just looked at the BehindTheRockTour website. Has anyone ever played in one of their tournaments? What did you think?

Info on a new defunct tour?

Thanks all. I'll check them out. I wish I was good enough to play 14.1 well.

Info on a new defunct tour?

In another thread on this forum (Danny Harriman’s thread on Pure Pool) a commenter had said how he wished there was a game that was "something like bowling and golf where you play against the game and not an actual opponent ." Another commenter responded that there used to be tournament or...

Can you be too smart to play good pool?

I love it when I tell people I like to play pool, and they say I must be good at geometry. I tell them I sure am. I can almost name 40 of the 52 states now.

    Practicing on Coin-op tables

The cue ball issue is a big one. If you are going to be playing competition in the future with an oversized cue ball, then practice with the oversized cue ball. But if you will be playing in tournaments and leagues and such that uses a normal size cue ball, you should practice with that size...

Bought this cue at a farm auction

Sounds right. I'd better call Saul to get more info.

    Pure Pool

I think there is something to what Macguy says. Playing against the game instead of a competitor can be instructive. I try to play 18 racks of 3-ball each day. Write down my scores, and I can really see how my game is trending. Plus it makes practice more fun. It is not the only game I play, but...

Bought this cue at a farm auction

Does anybody have any thoughts on what I bought? Obviously just a decorative piece now. I like the inscription. It reads N.W. Mull 1903 to I.E. Lewis 1938. No other marks I can find, except some guy carved his initials WW.
