I want to thank everybody here for the input. Now it's time to work on a proper stance and stroke!

    Advice about set-pause-finish

Thanks Scott, will certainly try this. I also noticed that my elbow is not in line with the cue. It 'hangs' a little to the right and when stroking forward it comes back in towards the body. Is this another thing to correct?

    Advice about set-pause-finish

That's strange Scott, my hand finishes much lower than the pectoral muscle. It's more near the stomach as seen in the video. Does that mean I'm standing too high or low above the shot?

    Advice about set-pause-finish

As said in my PM, this is correct. You've already pointed out the link earlier: http://www.thesnookergym.com/cat/

    Advice about set-pause-finish

That's right. Unfortunately I couldn't find a Cuetrack for sale as they are out of production.

    Advice about set-pause-finish

For everyone here who is curious about the device on the table: it's a stroke trainer with many different modes. In the video you can see 'force mode'. This will force your arm to keep the cue on the line of aim as it doesn't allow for side movement. It's similar to the Cuetrack stroke trainer...

    Advice about set-pause-finish

Thanks FranCrimi, I will definitely try placing my feet a little bit more away from the shotline to the left, meaning the upperbody will turn a bit more to the right too to create more space for the stroke.

    Advice about set-pause-finish

Never had a certified SPF instructor as I'm living outside the states. What do you recommend in terms of correcting the stance ('set' position)?

In that case it's about 12 inches so my bridge length should be fine. Do you have your shooting arm perpendicular to the floor when your cuetip is at the ball?

    Advice about set-pause-finish

That's interesting. My forearm is 18.5" (including the hand). That might explain why the shooting arm in the set-position on the video is yanking backwards!

    Advice about set-pause-finish

A coach once told me that this is an ideal bridge length. If you have any other ideas about bridge length or my stance, please shoot!

    Advice about set-pause-finish

That's a device to straighten the stroke. It's similar to the Cuetrack stroke trainer in the way that it forces your arm to make a straight motion and eliminates unwanted steering of the cue. It will create muscle memory very quickly in a short amount of time. Just need to be sure that I get my...

Maybe it's hard to notice in the video, but after every forward swing my hand is touching the chest.

    Advice about set-pause-finish

Hello instructors! Currently I'm looking for a good default setup/stance according to the set-pause-finish method. I try to keep my bridge length about 12 inches. The link below is a video of me training this. As you can see, it goes wrong at the 'set' position (when the cuetip is at the...

    Cue Track stroke trainer

I'm having trouble finding just one :frown:

    Cue Track stroke trainer

Yes, I was seriously thinking of making my own. However it's still difficult because the cue should be traveling in a straight line during the back and forward swing. Since almost any cue but has a taper design, there should be something to slide over the cue that is level to prevent side movement.

    Cue Track stroke trainer

Nope. Not even a similar product. What a shame!!

Very amusing reaction! And also very inventive

    CueTrack stroke trainer

So that means that you used a similar device to straighten your stroke, given that you're speaking in the past? :D If so, how long did it take for you to develop the required muscle memory?
