All Japan Championship Starts Today!

What in heavens name is Japanese rotation?!

Continuous rotation played to a certain number of points (usually 120, 180, 240, etc.) On the last ball in each rack, if you get the cue ball back to the kitchen, you get to break from where it lies, if not, your opponent gets the break. On fouls, you can decide to have ball in hand in the kitchen, the lowest numbered object ball spotted on the center or foot spot, or both.

...it seemed uniform and shining straight down...all the rails were equally bright.
...perfect for streaming

When I played there years ago, it was just run of the mill convention center fluorescent lights from a ~30' ceiling with a big fluorescent (led?) chandelier thing in the middle. They probably have switched to led by now, but I doubt they get special lighting just for the tournament.

Why doesnt SVB ever move one way or the other?

He moves a bit once in a while. He has many thousands of games in the system, and continues to play at a high level, so changes aren't large.

Here's a list from about two years ago. SVB has really fallen since then. https://forums.azbilliards.com/showthread.php?t=438483. Wu has dropped 20 points since then (far fewer games in the system), and Shaw is up a dozen or so.

Great win by Takano. It is good to see a relatively unknown player snap it off against many other favored players. Before this event, he was outside top 100 Fargo, ranked 40+ in Japan and 400+ in WPA rankings.
Last relative unknown to win was Raymond Faraon few years ago.
Congrats well done, Takano. :)
