preshot routine - my first youtube effort

mikepage said:
I'm trying to figure out video stuff, so I started with a clip discussing the importance of a consistent preshot routine. Unfortunately in ten minutes I mostly just motivated the idea. So this will require a part two with a specific recommended sequence of events.

Anyway comments appreciated.

Good job Mike! Glad you got Movie Maker "working"!

Nice start

Mike:

I enjoyed the video. Thanks for telling folks to put the chalk down chalk side up. I'll look for the next installment. I know someone that I will recommend it too already. Thanks, again.

Hi Mike:
I like the pace and analogies (locker room, rifle, etc..) of your video.

Just a suggestion: since youtube is limiting the video to be under 10 minutes, you might want to segment the video into small part (ie, introduction, chalk technique, "shot line")... However, ths is very minor, you are doing a great job!

Here is the table diagram for the shot:

I have also insert your video into our collection at CueTable Public Library:

Thanks for the great effort, I look forward to seeing more soon :)

very nice

I enjoyed it, and thought it was well done. I really hope
you post part 2, and more in the future. Nice room, and
the quality of video and audio was just right.

I like it! I agree with everything said, it just sorta got cut off. ;)

You did a great job. Very thorough.

But why no Diamond Type Lights? Do you use the light bulb aiming system?

Hi Mike

Great stuff.

In general the Pre-shot Routines are broke down into three different segments that flow together. I think you covered the first two very well, can't wait for the final stage.

Looking forward to our visit together.....SPF=randyg

Yeah well, it was 12 or 13 minutes until I realized youtube had a maximum of 10. Perhaps I should call it the "reflections on the preshot routi"

Nice video mike.

I was a bit disappointed in the end, because I was just waiting the entire video for you to runout those 3 balls. ;)

what i liked the most was the Decor of the room. nice table, nice cloth, nice light, and nice chair rail. whats the chair rail made out of? anyway, very nice color coordinated room.

just curious how that Gabriel table plays?

Note to self...
PSR Step #1: Put on shoes before going to the pool hall :-)

Nice job, Mike.

I liked the walls with no holes in it from thrown balls :p ;)

well done

Very nice video Mike. I like the part about stepping into the shot the same way every time. I wouldn't think of hitting a golf ball by stepping into the shot from a different direction each time. But I don 't think about it at all shooting pool. BTW, I also practice barefoot on occasion. It is similar to playing on a table that's taller than usual.

Wow Lou. I don't know what to say...

I suppose you enter and exit the pool hall without bowing as well.

Mike,
just wondering, are you an instructor? big time player? you did a nice job with the video, just wondering what your background is.

Just a recreational pool player and wanabe pool instructor..

But I'm no stranger to teaching

I've taught physics a little bit in a high school setting as well as

(University Undergraduate courses)

General physics
General chemistry
Physical chemistry I - quantum chemistry & spectroscopy
Physical chemistry II - thermodynamics and kinetics
Biophysical chemistry

(University Graduate courses)

Quantum Chemistry
Statistical Thermodynamics
Intermediate Physical Chemistry
Advanced Quantum Chemistry
Kinetics

For better or for worse, that (in the video) is about my "teaching physical chemistry" persona.
