I've seen anywhere from dime to completely flat.
I'm sure there is no right answer but what is the reason for completely flat?

To each his own. I hard break with a tip that has about a quater radius on it. I soft break with my playing cue that is a dime radius. Johnnyt

I use a nickle on my break and dime on my playing cue.

Was you ever able to get a hold of your friend?

The flatter the better, you want it so flat that you can stand the cue up on its tip and leave it there for days! j/k... Actually, I prefer a nickel shape on my break tip and a dime on my player. Though, I've been trying a dime on one of my break shafts later to see how much juice I can put on whitie during the break.

James,
He's stuck in Helen, TN troubleshooting his machine.
He said he is on his way back today, so he never got to see your post yet.
I told him to just swing by but he said he was up till 3:00am trying to fix it, and just wants to go home.

Mine is about the radius of a silver dollar. I want a slight radius just in case i need to work the cue ball on a jump shot. However the larger radius is more forgiving should I hit a little off center on a break shot.

They are right. You want to flat enough to get as little English as possible. That means you can be a hair less accurate and still not get a yon I'd English. You do need some shape. You don't want it so flat it has an edge to chip.
