What to use to line box of a Valley

I've been bugging people with questions about my project to put a Valley in at my cottage. Thanks for the help to date.

Table arrived last weekend. I never noticed how loud a Valley is (ball return) when not masked by the sounds of a loud bar.

I've seen a few threads on installing something to line the ball return tray and other parts, but none that I found gave much info about what to use.

Since the slate is on and newly level, I think I will start with only the bits I can access (the ball return box and the parts accessible via the ball window.

Anyone with experience or thoughts on using self-adhesive cork (like this https://www.amazon.ca/Cork-Nature-Self-Adhesive-Roll/dp/B00YHDB0P0 ) or maybe some kind of self-adhesive rubber like this: https://www.amazon.com/self-adhesiv...&page=1&rh=i:aps,k:self adhesive rubber sheet

Thanks in advance.

Fill the cavity with cheap pillows.
You can always use it to take a nap.

Fill the cavity with "Speaker Cabinet" polyester fill from a roll. NOT fiberglass!!!
This is the cleanest method. Stuff it into the empty places.

Fill the cavity with chopped poly fill used in pillows.
More messy but fills the voids.

Thick 6" foam sheets. Like in a bed.
Cut them to fit in all the spaces.
Some work, but works well.

Cornerman said "Sorbothane".
Thick exercise/yoga mats work. High cost.

Thin cork sheets will not absorb much noise.
Too much work and expense.

Don't use cork, Gideon....as it gets older, it starts to disintregate and ends up on the balls.
I've seen cork on Brunswick ball return trays....had to be ripped out.

I cut a piece of styrofoam to line the floor of my GC ball box.

Works great and is easily replaced.

Thanks to all who responded. Sorry I didn't come across the earlier thread - my search skills are clearly lacking.

I am tempted to go with something like this: https://www.amazon.ca/SPONGE-NEOPRE...1&keywords=Sponge+Neoprene+With+Adhesive&th=1

Anyone have any experience whether 1/2" is too thick and might cause the balls to jam?

Sorry, I just did a Justin.
You are lining just the ball box.

1/2" would be fine.
Good product with adhesive already.
***Be Sure to wipe clean the surfaces of the ball box first.***

Some use carpet, but then you need adhesive, trowel, rags.

The other suggestions are to quiet the body of the table.

Thanks for your help. I'm actually looking to line both the box and the ball drop area - I've taken the ball tray out (basically the areas I can access without taking the slate off).

If I had been smarter I would have thought of this BEFORE the table was installed and done a full dampening while it was open. Since I wasn't that smart, (and it is in a separate building so the only one I am annoying is myself) I want to try this step first before deciding if I need to try more elaborate measures.

With a bar box with the top installed, I would go the speaker fill or chopped pillow material route.

Look for a local supply. Furniture, mattress makers.
We have a place here in Beautiful Downtown Burbank called Foam Mart.
https://www.foammart.com
I get my speaker fill there.
