Doesn't the SBE event pay out less and less every year?
These guys aren't going to turn down the opportunity for the exposure & money of a Matchroom event.
Matchroom runs the World Pool Masters and I doubt they gave a sh*t about conflicting with the SBE. SVB, Earl, et al. will get a nice payday just for showing up.
Also, here is the recently posted draw for the WPM:
Yes, some got byes based on qualifying. Those who were “invited” have to play prelim. round.
Just a way for them to expand the field out by an extra 8 players this year.
Earlier than last yr.
Later than some other yrs.
For a long time it was right during St. Pat's.
It moves around some.
