my local TAP charges $10 a night for an 8 or 9 ball match, theres 10 teams in 8 and 9 ball each night ,the pay out was around $800 for the winning team.does'nt seem like much for a 21 week session, cosidering theres $500 a night paid in.i don't think any of this money goes to rally in the valley,as every one and team there pays entry fees.my APA league will pay around $1500 for tri-cup twice a year, and about $4000 for LTC W/ entry to vegas championships, and they pay for two teams to go.APA nightly fees are $7 for the match per person.i would like to know how other leagues are charging and paying out,,,thx

APA $8 in Maryland, used to be $7 about 4 years ago; not sure why they raised it.

Inflation....cost of living ...whichever you prefer lol

Seriously I heard part of the increase also went to raise the amount of the travel fund. In our area the team travel fund increased by 500.00 a team for 8 and 9 ball....not sure about the rat f the various teams such as ladies ...masters...jack and Jill....scotch doubles....a a couple more.

Forgot to mention that ours went from 6.00 to 7.00 .

I don't know our total number of teams, but our N.E. USAPL league sent 21 teams to Vegas this year along with maybe 20 singles trips. This includes airfare, hotel and event entries. There is no "fund" to pay for things, the league operator buys the tickets and rooms and pays the tournament entries directly. Some players were both on a team and won a trip to play in singles so got a week stay in Vegas free.

This is the breakdown for this years Vegas trips from the league

1. 8 BALL: Nine (9) team registrations. <--- one was the team I play on with my son
2. 10-BALL: Four (4) team registrations.
3. 9-BALL: Three (3) team registrations. <--- my team got to finals for 9 ball playoffs, we lost due to some really under-ranked players on the other team. Had a C player run two racks on me to win my match. Their 350 handicap ran 4-5-6 balls at a time, our 350 handicap can run 2-3 on average.
4. WOMEN’S 8 BALL: four (4) team registrations.
5. BCA 3 MAN 9 BALL TEAM: One (1) team registration.
6. USAPL SINGLES 8 BALL: Nine (9) singles registrations.
7. USAPL SINGLES 9 BALL: One (1) singles registration. <--- My son, finished 7th out of 70 entries.
8. BCA WOMEN’S 9 BALL: Three (3) singles registrations
9. BCA WOMEN’S 8 BALL: Three (3) singles registrations
10. BCA MEN’S 9 BALL: One (1) singles registration
11. BCA MEN’S 8 BALL: One (1) singles registration
12. CSI MIXED 9 BALL: One (1) singles registration.

Every league should publish the details of their budget. It might be a requirement, depending on the league.

The TAP and APA have completely different structures.
APA being much wider reaching, each league location having input while narrowing to a few team in tri and city cups.
Good luck even trying the figure the math but 90% of teams get nothing as far as payout.

The input math is obviously simple for your 10 team / 21 week TAP league.
Using your $500 which would equal $10,500 input after 21 weeks with each team's input being $1,050.
INPUT $1,050 for a 1st place OUTPUT of $800...IMO, something is seriously wrong when a 1st place team doesn't even break even, let alone come out ahead.

I do not believe TAP regulates output though, this is most likely a league director thing and the questions need to be asked (long ago).
Every team / player has a right to ask about payouts; this should be set, published, and understood at the start.
Assuming the input is correct based on the weeks/teams you stated; there is no way in hell a 1st place team should ever be in the hole.

Well, if for the $10 the player gets two drinks and $4 worth of table time, it's not bad. Maybe the OP could provide a few more details after asking the LO about it. It's really the LO we need to hear from.

West Denver Suburbs, now $6.00 per (so if you play both 8 and 9 in double jeopardy it's
$12.00), and just about everyone is charging some kind of green fees now if they open the
tables or feeding quarters into the beast the matches cost about $9 or $10 per anyways.
I feel like our LO is very generous with us. I figure after everyone qualifies that is going to
qualify for the NTC in Las Vegas and the tables and facility are rented our LO probably pays
out about between $50,000 and $60,000 for that one weekend, and I think that's a conservative
estimate.
During the year there has to be another $20,000 in prize money,
trophies and other assorted expenses and trinkets, maybe more, and that's just money
spent directly on the players. I know some of you feel like your LO tries to do everything
including sending you to Las Vegas all for less than $100, I feel bad for you guys.
I think our LO is great

I don't know anybody getting rich off of running leagues. I'm not saying such people don't exist. I'm just saying I don't know them.

And besides, if, for example, a person took a city/region that had 50 teams playing league and turned it into a city/region that had 500 teams playing league, maybe that person getting a little rich is not such a bad thing... And maybe that person should be encouraged to go to the next city...

Regardless, when many people give information about league cost, it is a little like giving the score of the Yankees/Red Sox game as Yankees 6. It may be accurate and important information, but it is screaming for other information to give it more value.

I run leagues on well maintained Diamond tables spaced 7-feet apart. The matches are on two tables. The players pay $15 a night. For each division of about 10 teams, the top team gets about $2000 at the end of the 26 or so week season and all teams get paid. Any player who goes to Vegas gets $300 to help defray expenses.

All players get a complimentary drink each night

Players may play all day on their league day at no cost. Show up at lunch time. Come early to league for practice. Stay late and match up.

There are league tournaments with added $$ and a player appreciation night with a few kegs of beer and a nice spread of food.

If someone asked for an "accounting" of where their $15 league fee went, I would invite them to go jump in a lake.

When you pay $10 to see a movie at a theater, do you expect to know what of your $10 went to renting the movie itself? what went to insurance? what went to fixing the broken popcorn machine? what went to cleaning vomit in the bathroom? what went to a lease or mortgage payment on the building? No. Your decision is $10 in your pocket or Harry Potter in a Dream Lounger. And once you choose the dream lounger, it's not your $10 any more.

My communication to league players is, essentially, here is the way the league works and here is the cost to you.

Some leagues are run as private enterprises; some leagues are run as more-or-less player cooperatives. Some leagues are run by Vending companies who lease coin-operated machine to bars. The variety of situations is huge. And the finances might be complex. If league is run in a series of bars where drinking is prevalent and encouraged, the "apparent" cost for league might be low or even negative. But just like the comped room at the casino, there is a bigger picture view.

Sounds like you do it right. Your players are lucky.
