Question for Brite Tone users

I have not been happy with the water based sanding sealer Crystalac sells as part of their "system" as it doesn't penetrate evenly on certain woods and can look splotchy. And I don't like how it raises the grain. I much prefer solvent/shellac based products like Zinsner bulls eye for the rich even look it gives and the deep penetration.

Has anyone else used Brite Tone over shellac? I finished three cues like this recently and they look fantastic but I'm concerned about adhesion if I don't use the sealer they recommend. I just don't want them coming back with the finish falling off.
