I had the honor of meeting the Miz at one of the BCA Trade show Expo's back in the late 80's. It was held in Louisville, Kentucky. I was there with my girlfriend at the time who was circa 21. I spotted Steve who was involved in a serious conversation with Jimmy "Pretty Boy Floyd" Mataya (of all people) at the time. Steve had sensed that a fan was waiting to speak to him and perhaps get an autograph and picture, so he stopped speaking to Jimmy and warmly greeted my girlfriend and me. Steve & I end up in a conversation about what it was like to be a history teacher...all the while, Jimmy Mataya had escorted my girlfriend just outside of my range of eye & ear shot and, according to what she told me later, allegedly tried to pick her up. It was cool to speak to Steve. He was a really warm and regular guy. As for Jimmy, well...
