Anybody have a suggestion for lighting over a table that is in a room with 16-20’ ceilings?

Hang lighting using braided aircraft cable and turnbuckle to adjust ceiling height. We used black 1 inch diameter gas lines in the ceiling supports to hang and center the wires. Can easily pass cable through acoustic ceiling tile.

Something like this. Hold 480 pounds per wire so strength isn't an issue. Cheap too. Need special cutting tool with rounded concave edges to squeeze the wire. Can get at harbor freight.

Buy small cable clamps to make loops for the wire.
And small turnbuckles.

This is for a bar that is interested in having a team play in the league that I am in. I am not sure if the owner is wanting to hang something that distance.

What kind of spotlight would be acceptable to a pool player?

Run a cable wall to wall, hang em from that cable. If your talking after after hour lighting for the cleaning people, that's diff.

It is quite a large room with dining tables around.
I’ll see if I can get a picture this evening.

At that distance spots will be quite diffused, so they should work well.
Closer in you would want to use wide floods.

LED Spot lamps would work....
If you have a number of them to wash out any shadows.
If you try to light that 9’x4.5’ area with just three or four lamps you will have a lot of shadows.
At that distance you will need the brightest lamps and a large quantity of fixtures.
Probably three lamps pointing straight down on the table and one pointing across at each corner could work, for a total of seven lamps.

Three straight down and six lamps aimed across the table toward the cushions, three on each side would be ideal at that distance.

HD or Lowe’s will not have what you are looking for.
Go to an electrical supply house or try a lighting supply house.

Like others have said the best solution is to hang a standard pool lamp with four floods just above the table.
Comes in black, green, red or frosted glass.

I have a Diamond 9' light.

If you know how and are able you could do as I did:

Anchor .25" all thread from the ceiling over the exact spot where the fixture will be
Pull your wire down one of the all threads and tape it ever couple feet
Make sure the wire is long enough to reach desired areas in fixture

Now:

Measure from ceiling to where you want top of fixture
Get four lengths of .75" galvanized pipe that length
Thread a floor flange onto each pipe end
Slide the galvanized pipe over (flange first) the all thread
While someone holds the pipe up, slide a washer up to end of pipe
Screw a nut up to washer....now using that nut, you raise or lower the pipe
After the floor flange is up against the ceiling:

Repeat ^^^^^ for the other three all threads

At this point you should have four galvanized pipes with a wire run in one of them

Now:

Drill holes in the fixture to match the all thread hanging through pipes
Push the fixture up until the all thread is a few inches inside the fixture

While a couple people hold the fixture

Slide a washer onto each of the all thread rods and put a nut and lock washer on each

Now your fixture is hanging

At this point, electrical work is done and your pretty much done.
