I was considering tapering down a 314-2 to a 12.30 ,, I wanted to know if this will increase the deflection ,and take away from its 12.75 playability,or will tapering decrease the deflection more than the 12.75 taper ???

Your Thoughts ????????????

That's what my 314 -2 shafts is at and I have no problem with it , If your thinking about doing it I'd probably not take it down that fare , and the reason I say that is that I miscue every now and then with the tip being smaller .

But I still play well with it , if I had to do it over again I'd probably have it has 12.50 . But it's your shaft do what you please and hopfuly it will work out .

I currently play with a Pred. Z at 11.75 ,, its just that long shots take alot of focus being that tip is that small , so I figured I go right between a 12.75 and 11.75 taper inhopes to get better results on long shots

Keep in mind that you are taking almost 1/2 a millimeter off of an already small ferrule. I would think that is would change the playability somewhat. Whether for the better or for the worse is for you to find out. Hope it works out for you.

Seymore billiards has this option available on most shafts they sell..

So if They are the ppl I choose to buy the shaft off of ,and taper it down , you would think they would still have to honor the warranty..........

Wouldnt they ???

A larger tip diameter makes long shots easier? How?

Anyway, there should definitely not be any additional deflection by tapering it down, and in fact you should get a small reduction in deflection, due to decreased end mass. However, I would start to worry about durability; since the tip end of the shaft is already hollow, I wouldn't want to reduce the thickness too much or it seems to me like you could be vulnerable to splitting, or possible delamination of the pie-slice shaft segments.

^^Yes I think larger tips make long shots easier to a degree ..
Larger tips allows more room for error ,thats fact, not opinion ..

Your theory on durability certainly sounds logical...

I guess Ima have to Contact Predator and contact a product specialist to make my final decision
