ok, i poured in some superglue into the cracks and used JB Weld, slow dry for the "ditches". so far so good... this is a pic of one chipped-out area that's now perfectly flat.... i like JB epoxy because it's almost the same color as the slate, sands well and dries rock hard. bondo is ok but stays flexible.
