I can't wait... So I must speculate... I can't find final results, as the links are busted on AZ, and US Open's offical site uses AZ's.

Surely, someone has tallied the BCA Points for the US 2 automatic bids!!!

I'm guessing Corey's lead for one of them held up. I'm thinking it's too close to call for the second automatic - between Oscar and Johnny. If I had to guess, I'd guess Oscar by less than 30 points. I'm thinking Johnny gains @ 55 points on Oscar... Nobody else is near close enough by my view. Johnny's harrowing loss to Kim Davenport may have been the difference.

Here's BCA points prior to the US Open, from

http://www.azbilliards.com/2000pointslist.php

The points explanation is on this link also, right above the points listing table.

1 Ralf Souquet 371.8
2 Mika Immonen 355.5
3 Corey Deuel 353.5
4 Oscar Dominguez 330.0
5 Johnny Archer 254.3

WHO GETS THE 2 AUTOMATICS? INQUIRING MINDS WANT TO KNOW!!!

MRS has announced that Johnny will be on the US team. I can't imagine a US Mosconi team w/o Shane. I'm wondering, Rodney had a nice run at the Open, did that move him up at all/enough?

Thanks Predator5K4! I had not heard this circulating at the Open. Here's the article pasted from:

http://www.matchroompool.com/page/MosconiCup/NewsDetail/0,,12660~1835386,00.html

JOHNNY ARCHER has been handed a chance to help America win the Mosconi Cup for the first time in four years.

Archer, 40, a veteran of 12 Mosconi Cups, has become the first USA player to be named for this year's event, which will be held at the MGM Grand in Las Vegas.

Georgia-based Archer's inclusion was announced by Matchroom Sport Chairman Barry Hearn via a DVD played out at the Marriott Hotel, Chesapeake, Virginia where Archer was inducted into the BCA Hall of Fame on Thursday.

With eight Mosconi victories under his belt, Archer, who has won 29 of his 58 Mosconi matches, will need every ounce of his experience if his side are to derail a rampaging European side that has already named Ralf Souquet, Niels Feijen and Darren Appleton.

Matchroom Sport Chairman Barry Hearn believes Archer can help America gain their 11th victory in the 16-year history of the competition.

"Johnny may or may not make the top two of the rankings, but he's a natural pick if the USA are about to get back to winning ways at the Mosconi Cup," said Hearn.

"In among the young guns you need a steadying hand with bags of experience and Johnny is just that.

"He also knows how to win this event and if he can help galvanise his team, then I believe that for all the European talent, the Americans have got a very realistic chance of winning the Mosconi Cup outright for the first time since 2005."

The 2009 PartyPoker.net Mosconi Cup takes place from Thursday, December 10 to Sunday, December 13 and tickets are on sale now.

Live in its entirety on Sky Sports in the UK, the event features two five-man teams representing Europe and the USA doing battle in a series of singles and doubles matches. Now in its 16th year, the Americans hold a 10-4 lead with one tied match in 2006.

With the US Open set to conclude on Saturday, the next three American players will be named early next week.

They will be the players ranked first and second in the BCA Points List as well, while there will also be one wild-card pick.

The remaining spot will go to the player who amasses the most votes in a public poll set to take place on the pages of www.matchroompool.com
.

If the points awarded and how they're tallied stay pretty consistent from last year, it should be Oscar and Corey.

Now that Matchroom has used one of their two picks on Archer, it's a foregone conclusion that Corey and Oscar are on the team!

I tallied the points based on points awarded last year

If the same number of points are awarded for placing in the Open as were awarded last year and the same process is used to tallie them, the top 5 Americans should be:

Oscar Dominguez: 321
Corey Deuel: 306.3
Shane Van Boening: 241
Johnny Archer: 213.8
Shawn Putnam: 210.5

I think I have too much time on my hands.........
