There is a Thread on the Main Forum that the writer stated that he heard that someone ran a 100 balls without touching a rail. I don't go to the main Forum often but it was first in line and I could not miss it. Anyways, he gets pounded by comments....LOL Don't know why people write 14.1 questions on the Main when there is a Forum for just that.
I posted my Link of a no rail rack on his thread but I thought if anyone here might want to look at it again or did not see it the first time. Here it is. I think it is neat.
Here is a Link that I run two racks and the 2nd rack I run it without the cue ball touching a rail. Once is a blue moon a rack comes up like that, having a chance to do it & I will give it a try. This time, I was lucky that I was taping my practice and caught it.

I watched Johnny Ervalino do this twice, each time taking a sucker's money. :)

that's quite a feat, no matter what. Anyone could find this out trying a brainwash drill.
Thanks for reminding of your vid Mike.

Rails.

Very nice, very smooth the way it was played back in the day- effortless.

Do you remember if the bet was even money for one rack? If so I can see how he would get bets.

As I mentioned in the other thread, Leon Yonders was a behind-the-back and no-cushion specialist. He had a record of around 150 at 14.1 without a cushion but he didn't do break shots -- he just threw the balls out on the table.

I like to try no-cushion at nine ball if the balls are sitting well. Some opponents won't notice the difference.

I didn't catch the bet details, I remember the comotion building around his table once the agreement was made. I lost many more times than he won, but both times I saw him win this bet the run was flawless. He tossed 15 balls on the table, ran 14, and left whichever ball he wanted on the table -- usually a ball close to the rail -- since he didn't need to break the next rack, it didn't matter which ball he left.

BTW, did you mean Leon Yonders ran 150 while both shooting behind his back and not hitting a rail?

(Oxford comma and all...LOL)

Here is an article on Leon: http://news.google.com/newspapers?n...PQlAAAAIBAJ&sjid=C3cDAAAAIBAJ&pg=5852,3862890

According to a quote from Tom Shaw in Hustler Days, Leon's real last name was Cohen.

A quote from Ripley's is that he ran 180 behind his back. That wouldn't have been without a cushion.

Edward Knuchell has a couple of pages about Leon in his book, "How to Win at Pocket Billiards." Here are the relevant parts. From the caption, I'd guess that National Billiard News also did an article on him.
