There is a new tv show coming on TNT Aug 25th 10 PM EST called Public Morals staring Ed Burns. They recreated the Ames poolroom from the Hustler and Burns is the writer and director and whose favorite writer and film maker is Martin Scorsese. I watched the trailer and it looks like it will a good show, if you like 1960's NYC police/mob shows. Just a heads up, as everyone has there own tastes. Johnnyt

I've seen previews for that, looks a bit like The Godfather for corrupt cops instead of mobsters. For some reason watching shows about bad guys as the stars of the show makes me feel a bit out of sorts, never could enjoy Sons of Anarchy for example even though my wife and oldest daughter liked it.

Would be cool if they feature pool culture in the 60s in the show.

Thanks for the heads up, Johnnyt.
I'm already wincing at this concept.
I like 1960s NYC police/mob shows, but daggonit, why does it have to be married up with
pool?!

How about a show about pool that is clean, wholesome, and professional?
I know, I know. Wouldn't do well with the masses.

This is reason #143 why pool will never get back to the Hustler/COM days when pool rooms were booming and tournaments were on TV. There are at least three types of pool player. # one is the player that gambles/hustles only, #2 is the social players that just wants to get out of the house and play a friendly game of pool for fun and have a few drinks. #3 is the big expanding of all the leagues. None of the three are the #1 reason, but the three pulling different ways is. Johnnyt
