Shane Van Boening defeated Earl Strickland today in an exhibition match at Peppermill Bar and Liquor in Cheyenne, Wyoming. They played on a 9-foot Diamond table with the opponent racking. Free live streaming was provided by Bad Roll, Inc. on their Facebook page. The final score (by my scoring) was 250-216.

Shane pocketed 255 balls and fouled 5 times. His runs were 30, 2, 42, 69, 70, 13, 26, and 3 & out, in that order. Four of those runs ended on scratches and 3 on misses.

Earl pocketed 220 balls and fouled 4 times. His runs were 56, 14, 38, 15, 28, 15, 42, 9, and 3. Four of those runs ended on safeties, 2 on unintentional fouls, 2 on misses, and 1 on an intentional foul.

Here is some summary data for the match -- first for winner Van Boening, then for Strickland (separated by a comma):

Points Scored -- 250, 216
High Run -- 70, 56
Total Innings -- 21, 20
Points per Inning -- 11.9, 10.8
Attempted Scoring Innings -- 11, 11
Points per Attempted Scoring Inning -- 22.7, 19.6
Safeties -- 9, 12
Intentional Fouls -- 0, 2
Missed Shots -- 6, 4
Unintentional Fouls -- 5, 2
Match Length -- approx. 185 min.
Points per Minute -- 2.5

Note -- The opening break shot and the reply were not shown on the stream. From what I heard, I'm assuming that Van Boening played the opening safe and that Strickland's run of 56 started with his first shot after that opening safe.

Shane needed 9 for the game. He hit a good break shot, and it looked like he'd finish the job easily. But, needing just 2 more, he scratched. So Earl had a last chance, but he missed after making just 3 balls.

It was a fun game to watch (except for all of Earl's foul-mouthed yapping).

With those two players and that many scoring innings, I would expect a couple of 100+ runs. Was there any possibly valid complaint about the equipment?

I didn't hear any complaints about the equipment.

One of Shane's top 2 runs (69 and 70) ended with a scratch in a head pocket on a Hohmann-like power-draw break shot. The other ended when Shane made the break shot but left the CB behind the rack with no good shot, so he tried a cross-corner bank and missed.

Earl's 56 ended when he left the 15th ball in the rack and then played safe.

Expect 100 ball runs in a single 250 point match??? Mosconi was the ONLY player that I would and did EXPECT 100 ball runs in a 250 point match on any consistent basis.
