I have to agree i find it pretty sickening actually to watch dippy play, talking to himself in the 3rd person his HORRIBLE mechanics and actually asking for that much weight...i have always believed if you cant beat someone straight up then you shouldnt play them. the most weight i have ever asked for (seriously anyway) was the 7 and out from svb and actually broke even with him after 4 sets (i won the first 2 he won the next 2 and i quit) it wouldnt be so bad if he were to ask for a little bit of weight but come on i mean 15 4 in one pocket? and i think shane gave him a ridiculous spot in vegas and beat him...either way that goes he just looks bad imo because if he wins people dont really acknowledge the win because its such a huge spot and if he loses people just say well thats what you get when you try and run with the big dogs when your just a chiuaha. of course this is all IMO
I think Dippy's got it locked up this year. From the get go he has been involved in games and not just games he is playing in.
It sounds like he is generating plenty of entertainment and action. I don't recall there ever being a 100k set at DCC so that seems like some kind of record.
I mean what can you say about a guy who sends one of the strongest action men around Strong Arm John out of the room by tearing up a $1000 in front of him to get him to shut up?
I find myself strangely pulling for Dippy to get it because he has faded all the heat and keeps shipping it in.
The ONLY thing that really bugs me is the ridiculous weight but it doesn't seem like it's really that far out of line after all.
It seems like all the pool players are happy to see his cash infusion. Terms like revitalize pool are a bit strong but check this out - John Hennigan and Nick Shulmann said that they plan to come to DCC regularly from now on.
Imagine if a bunch of stone cold poker players decided to really come to Derby each year. It could be the like the Rack in Detroit all over again with super high stakes games on every table.
So if Dippy ends up being the catalyst that gets something like that really going then he could well revitalize pool.
