Congratulations to Tony for winning his second Omega tour tournament in a row! Also congratulations to Dylan and Sky for their second and third place finishes respectively!

Thank you to Omega Billiards for making this happen and to Melinda and Brian for running the show! Heather was also a dear helping out tremendously!

Next stop is Aug 3-4 at Click's in Arlington! See everyone there!

I just wanted to post a kudos to Melinda for making some tough decisions!

http://pooljourney.blogspot.com/2013/06/forfeiting-is-part-of-game.html

I meant to post something earlier, but I kept forgetting.

Basically, I busted my butt trying to get to my match Sunday morning at 11am. I had left a little late from my house and to make matters worse, there was construction on the highway which held me up another 15 minutes or so. I barely made it to the poolhall by 11am (I walked in the door about 10:58am) and was worried the clock on the wall might be off from mine, but it was pretty close.

I went to my assigned table and hit a few balls. By the time 11:10am came around, I was starting to wonder where my opponent was. Long story short, Melinda had to forfeit him after he came in over 20 minutes late for his match. I want to applaud Melinda for enforcing the rules here. If she had asked me to go ahead and play the match, I would have, but it was not a decision I wanted to make. I know I had busted my butt to get to the match and my opponent should have done the same. I know if I had walked in 15 minutes late to a match, I wouldn't expect to play.

I have read posts on here about how some pro players would show up late to matches and TDs would let them play after being 30 min. late. I feel that's wrong (and disrespectful to the TD and the opponent) and I'm glad Melinda was able to make the decision to forfeit my opponent, even though I know it was tough. I'm not sure how I would have felt if I had played the match and lost, probably upset. Furthermore, had we played and had someone posted Melinda was playing favorites, it would have looked bad on the tour.

The Omega Tour is great and I am so glad that Melinda is willing to enforce the rules. Thanks for all your hard work!

Melinda did the right thing for the tour, and for the players. Every time a player is late it delays subsequent matches. That the tournament director checks her phone is extremely generous, above and beyond.

That the player failed to text or call the tournament director is a lesson learned, shit or get off the pot.

Melinda and her boyfriend run a great tour, the numbers speak for themselves (a 60 player waiting list for a 64 player tournament is unheard of). Unlike other tours that I no longer participate in, due to 8+ hour waits between matches, the Omega Tour lays down the rules and sticks to them. An example every other tour should follow.

Thank you so much for the kinda words from you both. Makes me blush. :o

But, we are so happy to be able to finally have a tour in the DFW-area and this would not be possible at all without the players' support! You all ROCK!
