1/2 cut or 3/4 cut cue

...
1/2 joint may catch your whiskers if you keep the chin on the cue.
...
That's what I concluded recently when I started putting my chin down on my American 1/2-cut cue. I suppose perfect machining would solve that problem.

I'm bearded, have a 1/2 cut cue, keep my chin on the cue all the time and have no problems with my whiskers, at all.
OTOH I'm using a precision-machined non-American cue :p

3/4 is preferred by Snookerists, I believe due to the whiskers-problem.
Also the joint is where there's more wood so some might find that better, too.

Case is a problem in case of 3/4 !

I too am bearded, and purchased a relatively cheap Riley cue and my chin hairs always got caught, so I upgraded to a 3/4. Beard is no longer an issue, and the long shaft has a better feel, in my opinion, but that could very well just be me over thinking.
