I spent several hours at this tournament, watching and trying to identify differences between the best players and my own play. The main difference (besides their greater execution skills): they play boring one pocket, taking simple shots and no risks. Of course, this is understandable at their level - one mistake and the game is probably over.
In fact, Will Freeman lost the finals match to Sergio Perez because he lost control of himself in the last two games (when he was up 2-1 in a race to 3) and started taking chances. I don't know if he got tired, impatient or what, but he basically gave the match away to Sergio, who just continued calmly to the finish line.
