10-ball break contest

I wonder where is the best spot for the cue ball and how to hit it, I’ve tried the break box area using the “popping” technique (cue ball pops a bit after hitting the 1) hit it really hard, always dry 😭

I've only tried breaking 10-ball maybe 5 times and only made 1 ball. I give up I'm not worthy

I'm not a fan of the per-ball amount being the same throughout.
The risk of taking the next shot should come with a bigger reward imo.
It's lame to see someone make a ball on the break and perhaps another ball then quitting before taking on that next cut shot because they have more to lose than to gain.
I'd rather see each ball worth progressively more to entice players to go for that next shot.
-And it should never pay out without a ball being legally pocketed AFTER the break shot.

I've bought a shitload of tics 4 that and have yet to get my # called.

I kinda see some of this but these are really just to get more people in the room/bar. People aren't going to swing at tough shots regardless, if i already have a decent amount won why risk blowin it all? Like playing roulette. I wonder what the dude's last ball was like? Doesn't really matter as he already had 6G's won. These have various rules as to the ball on break scenarios. Some places only pay 1/4 perball if you don't shoot after the break.

I was called once two years ago and you had to make a ball after the break.
I had to rifle the CB to shorten a cross bank in the side and hope I didn't scratch to get paid.
I made the bank but was left with no shot and took home $4xx. Not too bad.

The payout is per ball and they have a small consolation prize if no balls are made. The guy made a ball off the break and ran out to the 10-ball and missed. The previous draw a lady made a total of 3 balls for $2505. It's a fun deal along with a cue draw every event the last draw was a $2K+ cue. With all the side stuff like raffles/50-50 draws the players/spectators support the events

he missed and still collected? That's not how it works. You have to decide shot by shot. If you decide to keep shooting and miss you don't win a dime. At least how they played the ones i was in.

They pay out per ball here. The ball count if not won goes on to the next event for the remaining season.

i understand the per ball deal and the carryover but if you shoot and miss you lose it all. i've never heard of one where you could miss and still collect any money. You sure he didn't quit with the 10b still on the table? That would make sense.

Ive watched a few and they pay out on what's made. No concessions

I think the wide variation in the rules is because smart people make it work for their particular group. We pay for balls made on the break, and any additional ones. If you miss, you go broke. We also allow $100 try at running out, with BIH, on a dry break. These rules sell more tickets, at least for our group. It also spreads the money around to a larger number of people.
