10 Ball Break Pot ???

Accustats is currently running a 10 Ball break pot at THE pool hall in Parsipany NJ at Comet Billiards.

I don't know all the rules and even if I did have them I would still want to know if anyone has additional rules you'd like to see in a 'break and run pot'?

We are planing a $5/ticket or 5 tickets for $20 break pot and I would like to get the rules down prior to the 1st drawing.
I plan on starting ticket sales at 7pm and close sales at 10pm on the night of the Break pot. I also will be running a single elimination OPEN 10 ball tournament in those 3 hours. After the finals of the 10 tournament, the winning ticket will be drawn for the chance to Break and run a 10 ball rack for the $$$.

Currently the rules are;
Each ball made will be worth one tenth of the pot and;
Must be a legal break for any balls made on the break to be counted.
Must be a legal shot for any ball to be counted during the run.
the game is over when;
the 10 ball is made
or a foul or scratch or a missed shot.

The balls will be racked and ready for inspection prior to the ticket being drawn.

I have yet to decide if this is going to be the traditional call pocket 10 ball game or just an additional ball added to the 9 ball rack and played like 9 ball rules.

Thoughts and suggestions... comments please?

I play at Comet. We have two draws each tournament night and you have the options to sell your ticket, partner up with another player and also allow different people to take a different shot each time. Pat and Bill recently implemented that if you choose to not sell the ticket and break for yourself, you will get 5% of the pot automatically. We are doing it where if you make the 10 ball at any point you keep the run going and you get paid for the ten ball made. Right now the pots are over $5K, so you are getting about $250 for just getting your name called.

We have the option to rack our own. Also, this is done during the one game 10 ball/9 ball tournament that starts at 8PM. They pull two tickets, one at 9:30PM and one at 11PM. If you wait to pull the ticket at the end, players will only show up at that time. If you're looking to pack the house, two-three draws spread out will keep the players in the room.

Thanks Christian,
Very good suggestions.
I like the 'pull two' a night. Keeping the crowd is what the goal is!!

Once the pots get high enough, you can do a drawing at the beginning, middle and end of the tournament. The players will crawl out of the woodwork once the pots get sizeable.

Also, Comet was not always an action room, but since this one game tournament and break and run jackpots you have lots of players matching up before, during and after the tournament. That means more business for the room.
