10 Ball Practice, Comments Please

At the bottom of this thread is a link to a YouTube video of a recent practice session. I'm interested in hearing from as many of my fellow AZers as possible.
Do most of you practice in the same way when practicing with someone? In other words do you analyze shots of your own and your opponents while you play? Do you notice break tendencies? Do you experiment with games you are not familiar with?
( obvious that neither of us play a lot of 10 ball...)
Do you compliment and critique your opponent and expect the same in return? Do you SHARE information? If you pay close attention, you will hear about two SECRETS REVEALED! Namely, the TRICK to make spot shots consistently and the TRICK to make a frozen ball with an oversized cueball.
As you can see by the videos..there can be a lot learned by talking your way thru your practice session. I look forward to as much insight as possible. I'm particularly looking for input from some teachers and writers...Joe Tucker, George Fels, Dr. Dave, Bob Jewett as well as all the rest of my enlightened AZers.
Thank you all for your input.

I'll play any game a person wants to play, but I learn the game before I will bet playing it.

9 ball used to be my best game When I practice for 9 ball or 10 ball I put 6 through 9 or 10 ball on the table and try to run them 10 times. If I run them 8 or more times I add one more ball and try to run them again. In time you will be able to run racks. The best I ever played I ran six racks from the break in a row.

When I play someone I try to learn as much as I can from watching them play and I will try new things when I play. It will help you get better faster in my opinion.

Shoot well my friend.

I forgot to tell you, my favorite game is 10 ball because you have to call every shot. I play 9 ball call shot only. It bothers me when someone slops in a low ball and then runs the rack. With call shot this can't be done.

My favorite game is still 14.1 straight pool but very few people will play it. I play a lot of bank 9 ball which I enjoy very much. I'm learning to play One Pocket. My best friend plays One Pocket well. It's a good game.

Again, shoot well my friend.

stop giving each other the 10 ball. when it matters, most people will make you shoot it no matter how easy the shot. just giving each other the 10 isn't good practice.

Thanks for input & questions. Anybody else have anything to Add?

I don't have sound while at work, but what were you trying to do at 2:20ish shooting the 6? You looked like you were playing shape for the 8 and left yourself long and straight in on the 7.

Making the ball is no good if you don't get good shape.

I got one for ya, I learned this one a few weeks ago! Play 9-ball, but, you have to call your ball and can't miss! If you miss, opponent has ball in hand:) your only allowed 1 safety per game! Played it for 20 a game! It's a great way to play because any decent B player can run the 4 out, so,,,,, don't miss! And if you play safe,,, better think about the rumour!!!;) happy shooting:)

Drills, drills, and more drills. Whacking balls around and reading books
may heighten your senses a bit but doing drills is the only way, imho.

When I watch most average players practice, they always hit most shots
they can already do, which is pointless.

Every shot you hate is the ones you have to shoot for hours until
there on your favorite list.

The decision you have to make is, do you just want to have fun or
are you out to get better?

Getting better will be more frustrating than fun and drive most guys to the break
of insanity.

I've sometimes think that I had a lot more fun when I didn't play as well
and expected nothing from myself.

Whatever you decide, just always enjoy it. Goodluck
