There are two forms of 10 ball, one that is common here in the states that is played much like 9-ball, and one more common in your area that is played on a snooker table with rules similar to snooker. Which one are you referring to?

he's referring to the 9-ball replacement game.

also i think a lot of the time you break from the box, as it seems to fit more with the reason to play 10-ball over 9-ball in the first place.
