12x6 Table Refurbishment

I know a guy that knows a guy who's selling a 12x6 snooker table for £300 around $460! Its has no cloth on it and no cushions but I got a good look at the slabs of slate and there was nothing wrong with them.

I'm wanting to convert it into an American style table. I have plenty of cloth, around 20x10ft of the stuff so my question is, would it be possible to get American style rails long enough for the table (if infact they are all one piece - I know nothing about fitting rails) and how much would it cost for them plus the price of fitting them?

On a side note; will it affect play because of the height of the rails? The table was made for 2 1/16 balls after all. Can the height of the cushions be raised to suit 2 1/4 balls?

The rails would have to be custom made....at the higher height.
I knew a man who converted a 6x12 into a carom table...
...it cost him a fortune...and it didn't help his game...
...the 'traffic' patterns didn't correspond to a regulation 5x10.

I would advise.....don't do it.

I'm not doing it to improve my game, just thought it would be fun.

May even just recover it to a standard snooker table if the cost is too much and sell it for a profit.

I'm writing this from absolutely zero experience in refurbishing pool tables, but I would imagine that converting the table to a pool table would be very expensive. Completely refurbishing the table to an original snooker table would also likely be expensive but not nearly as much as converting it to a different style of table.
