14.1 League

I have started a 14.1 league in the north Dallas/Richardson area (Texas). There hasn't been a straight pool league here in well over 25 years. We're in our second season and it is really catching on and I do believe the league will grow. A lot of interest so far.
I have a private page on FB for the league. It's called: (Mike's 14.1 League)... Look it up if you are on FB... send me a member request. We talk 14.1 so comments are always welcome.

Sounds Awesome!

Been trying to start one in sunny So. Cal has not been easy!
Any suggestions would be much appreciated! How many players do you get?
I know back east someplace they have a Straight Pool League with Two Divisions!
Would love to join your facebook page, also check out ours at Socalstraightpool.fackbook.com

I'm Interested...

I sent you a request to join the group on Facebook under the name Mark Burns.

Let me know if you need a player. I would love to play.

Thanks for the comments. Mike, we had 12 the first season and 24 the second season with many more wanting to get in. I am going to break it down to two divisions for the start of the new season....... Mark, happy to see that you became a member. This season is into its half way point. Sign ups for the new season should begin at the end of August or so. Perhaps you know some of the players who are playing in the league. Maybe you can get with them and get some good practice games in. Feel feel to write me on FB if you have any questions.

I don't understand this comment. Please explain.

"nvm" means "nevermind". He was probably thinking about commenting on a previous post that has nothing to do with the subject of this thread, but he thought better of it since his comment would also have nothing to do with this thread.

To make this post thread-related.... If you are interested in a handicap system that seems to work pretty well for 14.1 I can send you the details on the one we use in several 14.1 leagues in this area.

We have A straight pool league here in Baltimore at top hat.
I'm interested in how yours is ran
Is it handicapped
do you win money

Bob, Thanks so much for explaining what that meant.... I had no idea. Thank you for the offer but I do not want my league to be handicapped. Instead I like different skill level divisions.

Carl... There is a one time League fee of 25 dollars. (There are no weekly fees by the players).Players are responsible for their own table time if charged by the room where the match is played.
The league is a round robin format league with each player playing every other player in the league a single match to 125. Each player will be assigned three matches per month. Those matches can be played in any order.
All matches are to be played on either 8' or 9' tables at any location, even on a home table as long as agreed upon by both players. If a location can not be agreed on or the table size, then the match must be played at the Den on a 8' table....The rules shall be those as outlined in the BCA rule book. (which is Cue Ball fouls only) just like we play in the 8-ball & 9-ball League.
There are other rules pertaining to (tie breakers at the end of the season, matches that do not get played, player dropping out of the league).
Pay Outs.... I have a set pay out for the final standings, plus a pay out for high run of the season. The first season that I started I had 11 players and I did not have a fee to join the league. I just wanted 14.1 to get started down here in this area. All pay outs (550 dollars came out of my own pocket). This second season a 25 dollar sign up fee and I have 23 players signed up with many more asking to get in. All money goes back to the pay outs for players. I do not take any pay out money for what ever place I place in. The next player will get that pay out. I have started this league not to make money but to bring 14.1 back to the players. Next season, I am going to have two divisions an A & B. Depending on the number that sign up. I might have to put a little into the pay out, hopefully I'll have enough in both divisions. Also, any pro players that wants in are welcome but will not collect any pay out like myself and I am surely no pro player. This league is for players that have worked hard for years and years of making this sport so great. Ok, that is about it, if you have any other questions send them my way. Love to talk pool and my league.
