14.1 Rule Question - Last Ball in Rack?

Played a lot of 14.1 years ago. If the last ball was in the rack we always spotted it at the break end of the table. Just wondering what is right, has the rule changed? A friend insisted it stays in the rack and is racked with the rest of the balls. The current rule seems to confirm that.

your friend is wrong. What you said at first is correct. Also, if the cue ball is left in the rack instead of the last object ball, you get ball in hand above the head string for the break shot.

If the cueball AND last object ball are in the rack, the all 15 are racked and cueball behind headstring. I was wrong about this one until I looked it up.

You can then print the rules, there is a small table that you could cut out that shows what to do in each case.
