We have a new straight pool scoring app available for Android devices.

It's a 'beta' test version and may have a bug or two. If you'd like to install it and check it out that would be great.

Please send your comments to info<at>cue-md.com or add them to this post.

You can get the app from the link at the bottom of this page....

Thanks in advance.

The player being scored toggles automatically after a Miss/Safety/Foul. The player being scored is highlighted in bold black.

Basically, you start by setting up the match. Then at the end of the shooter's inning click Miss/Safety/Foul (or New Rack) and update the rack score. That's about it, all the rest is handled automatically. The Stats button shows you some statistics and history of the innings, you can e-mail the stats report to yourself (or anyone) to save a record of the match.

How do I score my opponent's inning?

It may be less intuitive than you are thinking. It definitely needs to include some instructions to the user with examples and maybe a help button that shows all your options at any given time.

Maybe a narrative that takes the users through a sample game.

Looks like it works for me. My bad. The non shooting player is in white, which draws the eye more as everything else is in black. You might consider changing it to the other way around, so that the shooting player's score stands out. This is a minor consideration. Also, is there a way to change the end score to 50 or 150? It defaults to 100.

The screen you are showing in your OP is great, unfortunately it is not what I get on My Samsung phone or tablet. On the phone , the layout is the same as yours but the numbers much smaller. On My tablet, nice large numbers but the tabs are small for the screen size,

It would be nice to do all the scoring on the same page. All in all happy to have something better than nothing, but needs work, Thanks! Robert

Good idea, we can change something to make it more obvious who's shooting.

At the start of a match you hit the Setup button, it lets you put in the match name. player names and starting/ending scores for both players. So if you have a handicap, one player could start with points or play to fewer points.

Somebody needs to come out with something like this for league matches (APA etc). And have it be iOS compatible.

The 14.1 Straight Pool Scorer for Android production version 1.0 is ready. Made a few fixes, improvements and it looks better on phones or tablets. If you have fat fingers a tablet's the best way to go.

Very easy to use, there's a Help button on the app that gives you the details (and the help also includes those racking rules that you sometimes forget).

Thanks to everyone who helped with the testing and gave feedback.

You can get your free copy from the bottom of the Downloads page on www.cue-md.com.

Enjoy and send any comments to info<at>cue-md.com.
