15 ball banks

I played some 15 ball bank tonight at the pool room with an old buddy. The rules were 7 one (or more) rail banks with no slop, caroms, combos, etc. and the last ball had to be 3 or more rails (bank or kick). All kicks had to be 3 or more rails.
It makes for a pretty long game, but I enjoyed it. As expected it came down to us both kicking and banking at the last ball for several shots.

Hal, I play a lot of banks, but mostly short rack. When I pracktice bank pool at home, I play full rack and I do like it but it's a LOT more challenging than short rack. Never played where you had to bank the last ball 3 rails or more... nice added touch.

What do you mean by short rack? What are the rules you play by? Be very specific please.

Nine ball rack, first to five wins. Less clutter with nine balls, quicker sets...apples to oranges basically.

If you want to see a couple of great short rack bank matches, there are two fantastic matches from Accu-stats that I would highly recommend. The 2004 semi-finals between Jason Miller and Piggy Bank Rogers, (Jason Miller banks 10 in a row over two games, misses and then banks 5 more to win the set).
The same tape has the finals with Miller and John Brumback.

The other match is between Truman Hogue and Shannon Daulton in 2002. Truman after struggling to even come close in the first rack makes 13 consecutive banks over 3 games.

Is that what they mean by 9ball bank? Like at DCC? I thought you just had to bank the 9ball.

Yep. I like long racks, myself, but short rack bank is a lot like the second half of a long rack game.

Hal, Short Rack is the same rules as Long Rack or Full Rack Banks. All banks must be called and no caroms, billiards or kicks, just clean banks. Only difference is that the rack is only 9 balls and is racked in the same configuration as a 9-Ball rack. Fun game, can be fast and furious, or can be long and tedious.

I played some tonight. We played 15 ball bank for 5.00 a game, then 8 ball for 5.00 a game, then 9ball for 5 a game. Then started over again. I won 5.00
