well, i managed to run 15 racks tonight, thats the most i have ever ran in one day! and even though i had some dry spells, there wasnt any dry spells that last for about an hour. i finally got some decent rolls, some looks, some opportunities. and yes, i messed up a bunch of opportunities to go along with the successful runouts.

my previous high was 14 in one day, and i was bound and determined i was going to stay up till noon tomorrow to get that last rack. funny it took so long, but by 1:30 a.m. i was getting pretty sleepy.

cheers men!
all my equipment is intact, and Dr. Cue's pic is back up on the wall - minus the glass covering however.

Oh thats just fantastic. Now that you've set a higher standard for yourself, are you going to nuke your house if you don't run 15 again?

If you've determined that a pitching career might not be in the future or your budget won't stand any more damaged items inside the household, there are other things that you can do to alleviate your frustrations when playing poorly. When it feels like your head is going to explode from missing shots and all you can see are black dots jumping around in front of your eyes due to an impending stroke, rush out to your car with the recalcitrant cue and tie that SOB to the rear bumper. Peel out and drag that thing around the neighborhood for a couple of laps until you can see sparks flying in back from your rear view mirror. By the time you get home, you'll be much calmer and feeling better and here's the important part, make sure that all of your other cues are screwed together on the table and can see the battered offender when you bring it back inside so that they'll know what's in store for them if THEY start acting up down the line. I have a couple of $4,000+ cues that I like to show what can happen to them and that they're not immune just because of their value. It's amazing how well they've acted since I started this practice along with the lesser valued ones. Fear motivation can work wonders sometimes...try it and see what happens if your rack percentage goes down.

Protege,
I saw Efren Reyes play 26 straight nineball games where he did not break and runout even once (he ended up a 2 game winner though). If you want to measure your skill, this is NOT the way to do it (9 ball is a ridiculously fickle game). If you really want to know your level, break and then take cue ball in hand. Efren ran 82 racks out of 100 this way - let's see how you do. On the other hand perhaps you should listen to D'maker and just teach that f#$@ing cue a lesson - sound advice.
