my girlfriend and i decided to drop out of a traveling money league and join an in house money league. we got tired of all the b.s. and drama associated with drunks and dive bars.

this new league we joined is a more or less bcapl format and is held at my fav poolhall, high pockets.

she found out her son was allowed to play and asked me to put him on the team, i said sure, why not. he and i play some here at the house about once or twice a month when we both have a lil free time. i thought he might make a pretty decent player one day if i could get him to quit drilling every shot at 90 mph.

well he played his 1st match the other night and won 4 out of 5 matches getting 42 points . 1 point behind my 43. 45 points is the most you can get if you win all 5 matches.

i dont know if it was beginners luck or he is just that darn good.

yea , this apa nut hugger joined a league with bcapl rules, but i am still playing 3 apa divisions plus napa league also.

How do you like the Napa league ??? I have been reading up on the Napa league and just curious as to how you like it, especially compared to the APA.

3 Poolplayers in one house? Wow. Now ya gonna have to fight for table time? :p

i love the napa league !!

to me napa combines the formats of bcapl and apa that i like the most.

in napa you play a race to your handicap like you do in apa, i dont care much for the round robin format that our bcapl league has.

then you have the following rules that is the same as bcapl. call pocket, no slop allowed. open after the break.

napa started a new format here this session which is quite interesting. it is called "laggers choice".

you not only lag to see who breaks 1st, you also lag to determine which game you want to play. the winner of the lag can choose 8,9 or 10 ball.

your handicap can vary in each format so sometimes strategy is involved in choosing which game to play. for example you may be ranked higher in 8 ball and lower than him in 10 ball. you would have to decide do you want to to spot him a rack or 2 in 8 ball or do you want him to spot you a rack or 2 in 10 ball.

for me there is no strategy in choosing which game to play , i always pick 8 ball no matter what my opponent is ranked because that is my best game.

i won all 3 8 ball games when i won the lag and lost the other 2 games where i lost the lag. 1 in each 9 ball and in 10 ball so far this session.

although i am a big defender of the apa i enjoy playing all leagues.

Sounds pretty cool. I actually have the opportunity to start a Napa league in my area and be the league operator for my surrounding area and have been toying with the idea for awhile now. Everyone is SO set in their APA ways around my area though, it's going to hard to start a whole new league so that has scared me away from it so far, but still considering it. I have yet to hear anything negative about the Napa league so far, it is sounding more and more interesting as I ask around.

the apa has a pretty strong foothold in my area also.

i am friends with our napa lo, he actually plays on 1 of my apa teams.

it has been slow for him trying to build up his napa franchise here. he not only has the apa to contend with but he has competion for players from the memphis pool league" traveling money league that has about 48 teams playing 2 nights a week" he also has several in house money leagues to contend with that are held almost every night of the week.

there are several players in the napa league here that also play apa such as my self but most of the napa players are what people on here would consider "REAL POOL PLAYERS". you know the type, the ones who bash apa slop players.

i hold my own with them on the table though. actually i am in 5th place in points . not bad for an apa banger facing real pool players in a call your shot league

actually dub we have to make time to play.

i play league 5 nights a week. he has either track or wrestling practice after school almost every night.

as for my girlfriend ? well she is always busy doing something around the house or busy with her daughter.

we hardly ever use the table.

I hang with them the best I can too. I am ranked a 4 handicap in APA 9-ball and have NO IDEA why or how I'm still a 4. BY all means I am not complaining, it is a huge benefit to my team. I shoot on Tuesdays and Thursdays and I was the #1 MVP in the 4 handicap shooting 75% on Thursdays (only losing 2 out of 15 games) nights and 100% on Tuesdays nights (haven't lost a Tuesday night game yet), just started the 4th session and I haven't gone up to a 5 yet.
