Thanks a lot, Vagabond. Lil Jon must be fat as a goose now. Found out he beat Tony Chohan, getting weight, before the ring game and he just booked a big winner in Dallas before the tournament. Young man is playing better all the time, looks like.

Thanks Hemi, I was just curious mainly because a friend of mine named Erman B. had played him awhile back and had lost and i hadnt talked to Erman in awhile, also i read your post over at o/pocket about Smokey and hadnt thought about him in a long time, last time i seen him was in Alington Tx several yrs ago , anyway seems like you know alot of the poolplayers, have a nice evening.

No problem, Lesrmoney. Yea, Erman is a friend too. Erman lost to Lil Jon playing one pocket in Hattiesburg. Not Erman's long suite, if you know what I mean.

I know virtually all of the Texas players from the 70s, Lesrmoney. Hell, they all beat me at one time or another, lol. Do you know Woppie or Marcus Collier, from the Dallas Ft. Worth area? How about Andy Oguine?

Yea, I knew Ugly, as they use to call him. I once wrote a short story about one of the players he turned out from Dallas, "Bird". Did you know him? Bird died young of cancer. Played well. Could have gotten much better. Sad story.

Marcus Collier, good bumper pool player? No one on earth was the favorite to beat him. Hey, Marcus use to live here in Jackson. I worked with him, roofing houses, when we were both tapped out, lol.

I think you should write a book. It seems like you know every poolplayer in the South. I love the old pool stories.

UGLY BUCKET WAS QUITE A CHARACTER AND QUITE TREACHEROUS ALSO BUT I WAS FRIENDLY WITH HIM AND SPENT QUITE A BIT OF TIME WITH HIM.

You discribe Utley well, Lesrmoney. Quite treacherous but outwardly an affable guy. I didn't know Jimmy Cox, by name. The closest bumper pool player to Marcus, that I knew, was Walter "Woppie" Gaddy. Woppie was from Ft. Worth. He was a much better money maker than Marcus. I sent Marcus into a bar in New Orleans to play an asian guy that Woppie had beaten out of $2K. I couldn't go in with him or it was a dead knock. Marcus goes in and waits for the guy. He gets tired of waiting and starts practicing by curving all 5 balls in. Of course all the gamblers in the house stopped to watch this and guess who walks in the door and notices the crowd around the table? Sure, the asian guy. He tells Marcus he will take the "K" ball and one outside ball. The damned thing is, Marcus gave it to him and went busted.

If you could get Marcus to listen to you he would make both of you money but don't send him in by himself and expect to be cutting money when it's over. He would find some way of giving it all back. Unless he out ran the nuts.
