wow....wonderful table and what a project.....PATIENCE brother....its ok to get into new things.....but whatever you do...that is a historical piece. Please take your time and at least leave it in better shape and done ruin anything and such by being too aggressive.

good luck brother, keep us posted with photos

best wishes,
Greyghost

thank you

Greyghost,
I plan on taking this one very slowly for sure. Being that it is my first time replacing veneer, I am a bit apprehensive to start to say the least. Replacing inlays, not even sure where to begin looking for help...I noticed the rail faces?(vertical pieces of the rail) have already been replaced once, way too good of shape to be original. Cushions are Monarch, obviously not new, but not original either. I think my next biggest challenge will be retaining the light color. It seems easier to go darker on these projects, but I would like to keep this one original.

whatever it may be i plan on getting plenty of wood therapy on this one..

I will continue searching for a thread that can help.

thx again.
Taylor

thank you

Dave,
thanks for the reply, I have already reached out to Mr. John Hobe, hopefully he can help with some sort of roadmap for my project.

When I purchased all of my tables I was fresh into semi-retirement and quite frankly the opportunity came up and I jumped on it. I really only needed 1 table for my new home which has a billiard room. Being that I couldn't rightfully just place any pool table in the room I started my education of antique pool/billiard tables, particularly Brunswick, more particularly, pre-war elephant leg versions which I just feel fit the room and style I am looking for.

I completed my first project, a Saratoga 9' 6-leg in about 8 weeks using general woodworking techniques. I made a few mistakes along the way but all in all it turned out good enough for my first one, and got me back to playing pool..

This medalist seems daunting. Veneer is something I have little experience with, and this piece needs quite a bit of repair. I just want to do it right, and slow, with no mistakes if I can help it..
eventually this table will replace the Saratoga.

My wish is that as I complete projects homes will be found for them, they take up quite a bit of space..

below is my first project, the Saratoga 9'
then the Newport(or Saratoga) 10' Carom
and a couple of GC's that I lucked into at a great bargain..

thx again.

Taylor, absolutely beautiful room and table. The Medalist will go great in there.

Really hope John Hobe contacts you and gives you the direction and confidence you will need for this type of project.

As greyghost has said, patience will be needed.

How would you like to have to restore the table in the link below?
