1928 Brunswick Medalist Table

Any thoughts on this table and what would be good price for it.

Heres a the pics and the seller responding to a wanted add posted by me.

I have an antique, 8ft. x 4ft. pool table I need to sell. It is a 1928, Brunswick, Medalist. It consists of three pieces of regulation 1" thickness slate, with all joints secured by brass dowels and sockets. You can use it like it is or you could restore it to the beautiful table it was. The playing surface, rails and cushions are fine, the pockets need to be replaced. The price includes table, balls, new black cover, and sticks. You are responisible for taking apart and moving.

Medalists a great table. I had 4 of them in Anchorag Billaird Palace. But you need a knowledgeable wood guy to refinish the table - the veneers are a little tired.

Measure between the diamonds on the rails. If they measure 12-1/2" it is a 9' table. An 8' table is usually 11' between diamonds. BUT if it is an 8' table, it is probably oversize (46 x 92)

My experience is that there were not too many 8' tables back then.

It can be a nice tablle - they play a little easy (shallow slate shelf etc.)

Refinished, I have seen 9' Medalist sell for $25,000.

George Clooney and the other doctor guy on that TV show bought Medalists from me.

These are a premier table.

It is hard to tell from the pictures, but it looks like a 4 1/2 x 9 to me. As Mark said, there weren't a lot of 4 x 8 tables back then. I think they began showing up more after the war.
