1st Philippine 9-Ball Open - truly open?

It is sanctioned by APBU, (Asian Pool and Billiards Union)? Most probably open to all local and foreign qualifiers.

According to the WPA this event is happening in April, does anybody have any details of this event - is it truly open?

Incidentally the big money match up is the few days preceding it.

Unlike the United States Open, where players from every nationality are welcome with open arms, it would appear that the first Philippines 9-Ball Open is about as open as the BCA Open.

JMHO, FWIW!

Wasn't Yang the first winner of the 1st Philippine 9-Ball Open Championship way back in 2005? :D

The Yang vs Orcullo Match is scheduled on April 22 to 24. I doubt that this is the Philippine Open that you are hoping for.

This is the one I'm referring to:

24/04/2007 - 29/04/2007
APBU - 1st Philippine 9-Ball Open
Manila, Philippines

:D

JAM, u will find no quarrel with me about "Open2 event's that aren't truly open! Unlike some I have always been consistent on that particular topic whether it be UPA, IPT, Phillipine or Timbuktu Open! ;)

What gave you that idea?

I think it just wasn't advertised well. Probably, the money is still wasn't there to be able to attract foreign players.
