Press Release re: Women & Jr Players / Entry Fees and Tour Cards

The Viking Cue 9-Ball Tour, the largest of the regional billiard tours in the U.S., with over $90,000 in added prize money each year announced that they have made the following changes to the acceptance of women and junior players in our open events. The changes will take effect immediately. To encourage participation in our sport by non-professional women and junior players (Jr = age 17 & under), the Viking Cue 9-Ball Tour will now be offering them Free entry to all of our local $1,000- or $2,000-added events.

As of December 1, 2006, women and junior players will no longer be required to purchase a tour card. Tour cards will be optional for those players but will still be required if they wish to compete in our larger events or if they wish to compete in our amateur events.

This means that there will be absolutely no fees for women or junior players while competing in the local $1,000- or $2,000-added Viking Cue Open 9-Ball Tour events.

Mike,

I wish you all the luck in the world with this tournament. I live in Charleston, SC and i've wondered over the years why there aren't any tournaments like the one you are having December 9-10. Charleston is loaded with pool players who mostly play in the APA pool league and the better players who don't play in the pool league don't have a lot to look forward to. I hope things go well for you and there will be other tournaments like this in Charleston, SC.

Thanks for promoting a descent tournament Charleston (Goose Creek is like a suburb of North Charleston)!

SCCues, Will you be attending the event ? Also, please tell everyone in your area including the league players about the event.

By any chance would you have the league operators name and # ?

I'm going to try and be there Mike and i'll be sure to tell all the pool players I know about the tournament. There's a place on Red Bank Road called the Shady Lady that has the largest number of pool players in Charleston playing there in the APA pool league. The owner of the place pays the weekly dues for all of the teams that play out of his place and I heard it's well over $3000 a week he pays in dues.

Shady Lady
1030 Red Bank Road
Goose Creek, SC
Phone - (843) 863-8498

If you can, get word to the owner and let him know about your tournament so he can tell some of the players about the tournament.

The APA League Operator is:

Bruce Bates
416-A Old Trolley Rd
Summerville, SC 29485

Phone: Office (843) 871-4105
Cell # (843) 532-3120

I'm pretty sure Bruce runs the largest APA league in South Carolina and he can get the word to a lot of players if you get in touch with him. He's a real nice guy and he loves pool. He's the man to talk to about getting the word out about your tournament.

I hope this information helps and I'll do my best to be at the tournament and i'll introduce myself.

I have been wanting something like this to come to town for along time. I suck ass at pool but love to learn and watch. I play on three apa teams out of crazy d's which is right down the road from weekends and shady lady and i actually live across the street from weekends.

hey sscues we should get together and shoot around some day.

SCCues, thank you for your help. Please PM me your email address and I will send you a pdf flyer for the event. Also, if you make some copies and pass them out locally and at the Shady Lady I will give you 2 FREE Tour Cards (Open & Amateur) if you play in the events. Any help you can give will be appreciated.

I have sent the info to all league operators in your area. We gave a special promotion to the league operators to give their players. It's $10 off either tour card if they play in the open or amateur event. Please let all league players in your area know about this. They should be distributing the info to their players next week. I also sent the below Press Release to all local papers around Charleston and Goose Creek, SC.
