Bittersweet for the Pearl no doubtI'll be happy for him if he is able to beat Gorst.
I wonder how Earl feels about it. I know he respects Shane, but it has to hurt to no longer share the record

Im sure he will be happy for Shane because he likes him but no one likes not being the record holderI'll be happy for him if he is able to beat Gorst.

John Schmidt once said "what's more of an accomplishment, running 526 once or running 525 twice?"Runner up isn't a title though. You either have 5 or 6 up open championships imo
There's already no question that Shane's 5 U.S. Open titles were against tougher overall fields than Earl's 5.Earl will be his usual petty self if SVB breaks the record. He’ll give some backhanded compliment to SVB and call him a great player but will follow that up immediately with his same sad song he cries about when things don’t go his way. “Competition was harder back in my day, these guys all soft break and play tic tac toe with set patterns, jump cues ruined the game, etc etc.”
