I actually thought Rodney came off looking the worst. "I am the greatest living human being."

The commercial trash-talking was pretty unbecoming, but Rodney had to be the worst. How could he possibly think that would come off well?

I agree, could you imagine if Earl was shooting, my god, that interview would have been insane.

Thorsten, showing up at the end with the "finger-gun" motion... good God, lol.
When I saw the 1st airing of the commercial I was in awe... I just sat there thinking that I can't be seeing what I'm seeing. Just when you thought it couldn't be worse Thorsten came on with the finger gun. I literally could not watch it after that. Thank goodness I recorded it so I could FFwd thru it. I was completely embarrassed for the guys... :(

I have to believe this was all done tongue in cheek. At least I hope so.

The whole production of the interviews may have been the cheesiest thing I've ever seen in pool. It was worse that Barry Tomkins even trying to do pool commentary. It was definitely on the "train wreck" level.

Mika: "Rodney should party less."

Thorsten: The Leather Tuscadero finger-gun-salute. How cheesy.

Charlie Bryant: "He still doesn't know everything I know."

Ouch.

Fred

Yeah, I really hope Charlie just gave the wrong impression and isnt really like that.

Rodney is a pretty humble, down to earth guy. I don't think it was serious.
Now the Hillbilly had me embarased to be a pool player.

Even if it was intended as such, it didn't come off that way. This is the one chance that these guys got to talk on TV - you'd think they'd take it seriously.

I could never imagine Tiger Woods saying that kind of stuff regarding Phil Mickelson, and there's no love lost between those two. It is abundantly clear why pool has little respect and no sponsorship.

Most of you know WHO Rodney is but not HOW Rodney is. If he didn't have pool in his life, he would be one of the best comedians out there. I can only speak of Robb and Rodney since they are very close to me. Rodney in no way acts like his $h1t don't stink. He is by far one of the most humble people in the pool world. If he isn't playing pool, he is out with the crowd trying to make everyone laugh.Rude dog can justify to my sayings. I agree that on tv, there could have been some things done differently, but don't take what you see on tv as the way they really are. Just having fun in Vegas. I guess what happens in Vegas doesn't always stay in Vegas.

Robb made a great showing and was very happy to place as high as he did. The situation with Charlie and Robb was there was some talk going on before the match started. It just so happened to have bled on to tv time. I've met Charlie a few times and that isn't the Charlie that I've talked to. Heck I met Charlie through Robb for christ sake. Charlie is having some rough times now. Should it have been portrayed on tv? Maybe not but it seems like he is mad at the world for the cards that has been dealt to him. Some of you talk to him through this very forum and know he is a likeable guy.

Sometimes we think everybody has to get along with each other. Look at all of us. We rub each other the wrong way on the forum, yet we hardly know who that other person is or what is on their plate.

Charlie lost his mom, who has been very closed and supportive to him all his life, his cousin was then killed just recently. I am sure he has not been partying; he is having a tough time and coping with his losses.

I have a lot of respect for Charlie to see him being able to go out there, and play the kind of pool he is playing, and finish as high as he has in the tournaments he plays in. I am not sure if a lot of players will be able to do that given the same circumstance. Charlie is a nice guy who has figured out a lot about the game by himself. He knows a lot about this game. He is also a great teacher and is always willing to share his knowledge with others.

The commericals and the other footage were most likely filmed to add drama to the show. I will not judge any of these players by what I watched on TV; may be I will judge the production crew and the producer if I really wanted to past judgement, which I am not about to.

I am just glad to see pool being played on TV, and I hope there are more to come.

By the way, I think Charlie looked good, especially when he was breaking.:) :)

as cheesy as it was, I actually got a chuckle at a few of the interviews with the guys - it kind of let you into their personalities a bit because you don't get to see that at the events

Steve, I know I have never seen Rodney act the way he did on this broadcast. Also, I have spoken to Hillbilly a number of times and he was always a very nice guy and his comments, on the broadcast, were just as suprising to me as those made by Rodney.

Until proven otherwise, I have to assume these guys were coached to say some of this stupid crap.

I agree. They were probably coached. Thorsten said "I am one of the best straight pool players in the world" While certainly true anyone who has ever talked to Thorsten knows how humble he is. I talked to him for a little bit and I was shocked on how modest he was. He was telling me his weaknesses and how he needs to improve on them. That comment kind of took me by suprise.

I also agree. I talked to Rodney last night about this thread and he said they were coached into saying what they said.

Charlie and Robb on the other hand is a different story.
