2007 Tour Card

Hi All,

Just a quick question that I'm hoping someone can clear up for me. It seems most on here have the understanding that players that finish in the top 100 in the money list after the Chicago event automatically earn a 2007 tour card regardless of whether they are a a current (2006) tour member or not.

However the description from the IPT Website for the 2007 Tour Qualifier in Vegas states:
IPT hopefuls including the bottom 50 ranked players from the 2006 season (who lose their tour cards) will have the opportunity to secure their 2007 IPT Tour Card and the $100,000 guaranteed income that comes with a 2007 tour membership.

Now I interpret this as meaning the bottom 50 tour card members lose their cards and therefore it is the top 100 ranked tour members that earn a card for 2007 (regardless of whether qualifiers have earned more money). So that means that the likes of Ronnie Alcano, Larry Nevel and a whole host of other players that are not members but have already earned a hefty amount will still have to enter the tour qualifier to earn a 2007 card. Is this correct?

No it's not correct. The website info has still not been updated despite this same question being raised about 50 times in these forums already.

Top 100 on money list after Chicago, irespective of whether a current IPT member or not get a 2007 card.

All current IPT members who are not in top 100 will apparently get direct entry into The Wynn Qualifier,if they want to enter, though it seems they may have to pay the US$ 2,000/- entry fee.It presently looks like about 75/80 current IPT members are likely to find themselves in this postition.

Everyone else, whether they are on the money list or not,has to pay US$ 2,000/- to enter any one of the 100 pre-qualifying events being held worldwide between now and December and finish 1st or 2nd in order to get into The Wynn Qualifier.

Accordingly the field for The Wynn appears likely to be about 275/280 players total.

Cheers for that. Sorry to have brought up something that has clearly been discussed to death. In my defense it was my first ever post, so I plead ignorance. :D

Nothing to apologise for.........the other 49 didn't:D ...... and it's certainly not your fault some of the IPT wording is contradictory and appears to have ben compiled without enough thought.

Welcome to the forums anyway:)

and congrats on Reno! ;)

On the other hand, I do question that spelling. Filipinos hardly use Greek or Roman spelling. Cesar is more like it. It is a more phonetically appropriate for Filipinos. Caesar will just sound very odd to us.

Bakit Ganyan?

I wasn't sure on the spelling. There seemed to be everything from Caesar to Cesar to Cezar quoted on the net. However as crosseyedjoe pointed out, from a filipino perspective Cesar seemed to fit best.

I JUST LISTENED TO THE PLAYER'S MEETING. The bottom 50 IPT members DO NOT HAVE TO PAY $2,000, they have an invitation to the 2007 Tour Card Event, and have to pay the $199 event fee.
The bottom 50 DO NOT have to play in the event, but they will have an automatic invitation to do so. These bottom 50 IPT members will not necessarily be 101-150 because some qualifiers might be inbetween there too. The Chicago event gives the IPT members a chance (especially ones on the bottom) a chance to pass qualifiers on the money list.

Other people wanting to qualify for the event have to pay $2,000 and qualify for the 2007 Tour Card Event, and then get into the top 50 to get a tour card for 2007.

And, I think that is correct, the Top 100 2006 money winners will get a 2007 tour card, whether an IPT member or a qualifier. And the top 41 will play in the KOTH.

Re the fee for card holders who lose their cards and who are "invited" into The Wynn event (however many they turn out to be) there is some confusion and at least one such player has indicated that he has been told that US$ 2,000/- will have to be paid by each of them. That could well be wrong and they might have to pay only US$ 199/- or even nothing,we'll see.Right now my bets on US$ 2,000/-:)

Sorry but you are definitely completely wrong about it being the bottom 50card holders who will be "invited".You will appreciate that would be a nonsensical scenario as that would mean for example that,if 25 qualifiers finished in the top 100,the 25 x 2006 card holders finishing say 101-125 would not be invited but the "bottom 50 x 2006 card holders" finishing 126-175 would be invited. So what would happen to the 25 card holders who were not in the bottom 50 card holders and not in the top 100 money list?;)

We have been over this subject several dozen times already in these forums. The confusion is due to IPT's wording on the website, which is still the original wording inserted before it was decided/realised that some qualifiers would win 2007 cards via the money list.

Of course some card holders have the chance to overtake currently higher placed qualifiers via their Chicago winnings but several analyses have been done of the money list situation and the confident concensus of opinion is that somewhere between approximately 75/80 x 2006 card holders will not make the top 100 money list which means 75/80 looking for "invites" to The Wynn, not 50,in fact it is mathematically impossible for it to be less than 70 rock bottom minimum..

Of course the bottom 50 do not HAVE to play at The Wynn, neither does anybody else, not sure what the point of that observation was:D

Personally,I think it's possible that several players who lose their cards might not enter The Wynn event if they have to pay an entry fee so the numbers may change at that stage anyway.
