Tournament Software Update
New This Year - Scheduled Times for Every Round
This year for the first time since its inception the Derby City Classic will have scheduled times for every round in each of the three main tournaments. The schedule will be posted in the venue, on the room TVs, and on the DCC website for those staying offsite. A new draw algorithm, invented by computer programmer and player Ed Scott, will be used to do the draw for every round at its pre-appointed time, without having to wait for all prior round matches to complete.
"This should eliminate the problem of unpredictable waits between rounds as the final matches are winding down" said Greg Sullivan, Executive Director. "Players can plan their day knowing when the next round will start. Of course the number one consideration was making sure the new draw is as perfectly fair and random as the old method. It's taken two years to work out the details, with a lot of help from Ed Scott, Brent Lykins, Paul Smith, Ben Brown, Chad Scharlow and all my staff at Diamond Billiards, and I hope everyone enjoys the benefits of pre-scheduled times for each round."
