2009 The Last Mosconi Cup?

Guys, been thinking, and next year COULD be the last Mosconi Cup.

The TV rights for SKY (who have shown the Mosconi live over here since its first year in 1994) showing the Mosconi Cup ends after the 2009 event and when I looked at the 2010 pool calander the Mosconi wasnt listed.

Anyone think there is any chance we could only have one more Mosconi Cup? If so, would you miss it?

I started playing pool because of the Mosconi Cup and its one of the big highlights of my year.

If Sky Sports isn't interested in buying the tv-rights anymore, I think it will be hard for Matchroom to put up 180 000 $ in pricemoney each year, like they do now...

Kinda true there Roy,

Matchroom currently pay the cash - but they get it back + some from advertising / selling the TV rights etc. depends on how Sky see pool fitting in with their minority sports schedule. They are currently showing a fair bit (for their standards) of UK pool, WPBA as well right now. I think the absence of it for 2011 is just down to renegotiations and planning / scheduling. But... I could be wrong.

Actually, I don't know of anything matchroom produces and sells the rights to, to anyone else exclusively without Sky showing it...
