Historically Scotch Doubles play has usually been slow, sometimes painfully slow. At higher level tournaments there is no coaching or timeouts allowed. This usually results in players going around the table and looking at the various options. Next comes the aiming phase where the player gets into a shooting position and pretends to aim at various shots. They will argue that they are looking where to leave the cue ball or other things but the reality is they are telegraphing to their partner what they want them to shoot in a way that is hard to prove coaching. After all of this the non shooting partner gets to the table, the cue ball is not where it's supposed to be. The baffled looks, they have no idea what to do and are looking to their partner for a clue without being accused of coaching.

All this activity around the act of actual pocketing balls is what takes so long.

Here's the situation. We would like to get some feedback and opinion on possibly changing the rules as follows:

Coaching and talking while not at the table is, as always, permitted. When it is your inning and time at the table you would be permitted in speaking to one another as you pass to and from the table. You would not be allowed to speak to your partner once they arrive at the table. You also would not be able to both approach the table either.

Based on feedback here we may try these rules in April and use this tournament to judge how this affects the flow of the tournament and could possibly be used to change the CSI rules for Scotch Doubles.

The deadline to enter the 2015 Texas State Championships is approaching.

To avoid late fees, please ensure your entry is post marked by 28 FEB 2015

Entry may still be done onsite provided that the draw for brackets has not been done.

Online Entry

For players that are wanting to pay online (you must have a paypal account)for the fees associated with the Texas BCAPL State Championships, need to take the following steps:

1: Print out the proper entry form from www.badboysbp.com
2: Fill it out legibly (make sure we can read it)
3: Send the form to us in one of these ways:
a: Scan the filled out form and email it to entry@badboysbp.com
b: Take a CLEAR picture with your phone (still need to be able to read it)and then email it to entry@badboysbp.com
4: In the body of the email, you must type in the email address of your PayPal account so we know where to send the invoice. You will not be entered into any event until that invoice is paid.

You MUST follow all of these steps in order to pay online.

Multiple entries can be sent in one email as long as they are all being paid in one invoice.
 
So who all is going this year? I'm assuming the usuals will be there...OB, X-men, the Odessa Boys, Coach's Corner, the Houston contingent.

I'll be there with the Hitmen again. Win or lose, this is always a fun tournament.

Is there a link to see who is signed up for the events (i.e. player lists)?
 
Doesn't the singles event usually end prior to the team event starting? A few of the locals were concerned w/ the singles event ending on Sunday and didn't want to be kept in Temple through the weekend if they weren't playing w/ a team.

I have sent my check in quite awhile back, but it has not come out of my bank account yet. I would like to know if my sign up sheet and entry have been received.

Finals for singles will be played on Sunday. Regarding the list, I saw one for teams and I got to it from this thread. Can't find it now though, sorry.
 
Dress Code

Trust it is OK to wear a Bad Boys Billiard Productions t shirt for any and all events??
