The 5th World Cup of the 2016 season is underway in Guri Korea (from Aug 29 thru Sep 4.) Korea time is GMT+9... if you stay up past midnight here in the USA you can catch some live-stream action on Kozoom.

Former 8-time USBA National Champion Pedro Piedrabuena is again scheduled to play, entering the tournament in the Qualification Round that begins September 1.

3CushionBilliards.com will be covering the event... posting results and updates until the champion is crowned. (Thanks to everyone who enjoyed our coverage of the Ladies 3-Cushion World Championship last week.)

Sad to report that USA's Pedro Piedrabuena did NOT make the main event at the Guri World Cup.

In his first game of the Qualifiacaion round Pedro made a great start with a win over Turkish player Can Capak (40-31 in 18 inning,s 2.222 average, high run 7)

But in his second match against Korea's Hyung Kon Kim, Pedro faltered losing 40-28 in 24 innings. Kim was the Qual stage Group G winner and so moved on to the main event,

As it is with a World Cup... sometimes you travel 6,000 miles just to play two games.

We continue covering the event. A re-cap of the 4 days of qualifications can be found here

Jeremy Bury of France wins the 2016 UMB World Cup held in Guri, Korea. Quyet Chien Tran of Vietnam is runner-up.

In addition to our two part coverage of the event (round-by-round) we'll be honoring Jeremy with another month on our home page to match his great victory in the Verhoeven Open. Stay tuned! In the meantime enjoy our take on this exciting event:

Fantastic win by Jeremy Bury. I have been a fan and have followed Jeremy for a long time. I watched him play in person at the Verhoeven Open and on Kozoom during the latest Guri event as well as other World Cup events. His game is in top form and appears to have risen to new heights. His is currently ranked # 9 in the world and is perfectly capable of beating anyone in the top 5. Allez Jeremy!!

Just changed my home page to honor Bury's world cup win:

Usually keep the latest champion up for about a month. Bury of course has doubled up since he also won last month's Verhoeven Open!

Here is my original story about Jeremy Bury's historic first world cup win - the first for himself and the first for France since Richard Bitalis in 1989!
