2017 US Open 10-ball

I'm there and can't see anything

You better hope that the stream comes up because I'm at Griff's and the seating is so bad I can't take it. Luckily, for me I came to Vegas for the Woodworking Fair at the Convention Center and figured the tournament would be a good time filler. NOT SO, no decent chairs and I can't see a damn thing and I'm 6'2" tall. Coming here was a complete waste of time. Well, at least until tomorrow when the trade show starts.

That sucks. I'm going to Vegas the last week just to watch the 8 ball

i won't hesitate putting money into the pocket of those offering high quality, interesting matches for free

Me either. It's crazy, how good, free, service will make you open up your wallet.

Someone mentioned Big Truck and I've never been a fan. The Side Pocket Open, in Shreveport was always a free. Good stream, decent quality, a few cams, and archive it all so you can go back and watch it later. BUT, that wasn't good enough. Let's hire Big Truck, charge everyone, have 1 camera, that shoots in 8mm it looked like , and no way to go back and watch the matches again. I mean what in the ****. Will never pay for that one again

Upstate Al streams the NY area. Almost every week streaming for free with very good quality too. Just that its a lot of regional tournaments.

This is a good thing for folks to know.

Griff's is a very nice room, great place to practice, match up for action and play tournaments.

It is in no way capable of placing spectator seating for a high profile tournament. It's simply way too small of a place. It's a pool room not a large convention space that you see in a casino.

I drove by yesterday and saw how many vehicles were in the parking lot -- all I could think was holly shit, now I know what a Fire Marshalls worst nightmare looks like ..

Maybe I've been lucky with Big Truck's streams, but I at least have confidence that I will be able to watch what I pay for. And I have no complaints about the quality...and I did see each day of the Side Pocket Open. I'd say there are two big companies who both stream high-profile events. Their visual quality is top-notch when the streams are fine, but I'm simply unwilling to pay for them when there just seems to be too much of a history of choppiness or outright streaming failure.

Steinway PPV's and Accu-Stats (US Open 9 ball) has had big problems when I bought it. Johnnyt

I remember the Accustats problem this year, but I think that was ironed out pretty quick.

I've never had a bad stream from Steinway that I can remember, but, then again, I have a hard time remembering farther back that 4 minutes ago.

Although, there was that Charlie fiasco...that was brutal.

You sir are correct. I love the place and play there 3/4 times per week, but the seating and view are terrible. People saving empty seats for long periods of time etc. Don't think I will make it today at least until after the event. They shoulda just pulled the covered tables out, wouldve been a lot better for the spectators.

Was really looking forward to this too.

Sorry guys, I always try to speak the truth.

I've also had good experiences with the PoolActionTV/Big Truck subscription.

Hopefully they fix this by the time of the 8 ball tournament

The only way to "fix" the problem would require moving many pool tables. Not just across the room but out of the front door to another location.

Now it might be possible to erect some spectator seating, but the 9 footers would have to be moved as well in order to have spectator seating on both sides of them.

If anyone wants to know how the optimum arrangement would look like check out Turning Stone. It is by far the best tournament for spectators ever! This would never be possible at Griff's.

Turning Stone has the tables set up end to end, not side to side, there is one long row of tables, and there are bleachers on both sides. A spectator can move back and forth along the bleachers to see any match they want, as well as being able to do it on either side of the table. There is always room for as many people who care to watch the match of their choice.

I suppose it's just a fact that you can not have a nice pool room that can double as a room to accommodate spectators for a major tournament, it would have to be the largest pool room ever.

In the previous location (the riviera?) years ago they had a very nice set up- similar to what you described at the turning stone

4 tables i believe. Not sure if they will fit in the Griffs truck or possibly storage for a few days. Great room, just not set up for tourneys
