I was given the incredible opportunity to not only announce but to also be a referee for three days (out of four) for this amazing event held at Yale Billiards in Wallingford, CT last week.

The experience was incredible eclipsed only by the performance of Eklent Kaci throughout the tournament. Working with and learning from John Leyman is something I will never forget and I am proud to now count him as a friend. I also have a new found respect for the refs that work WNT events. Area reffing isn't easy, especially when you're trying to maintain consistency for every match with enough pace to keep the matches moving and letting the players to continue their tempo.

I believe I accorded myself well throughout the event. I even had to give warnings to two different players for soft breaking and for taking a break in the middle of a rack.

I am hopeful that I will get another opportunity in the future. For now, I will have great memories and new friendships to look back on.

Hope to see some of you at the SBE on Thursday!

Nicely done, sir. Being an area ref is not the easiest job in the world. There is a wise old saying about refs that "if nobody notices you, then you are probably doing a good job."

Thank you sir! That was my goal. This was definitely a case of no news is good news. ;)
