player list

What list will you be checking for the the top 125 PRO player listings? Looks like a few of the players listed for 8 ball are on the top 125 AZ player listings. Am I correct in thinking that you will not let them play since you posted NO Grand Master or Pro Players (Top 125 Listed) on the first post for the tournament?

Some players that are listed in the 128 man 8 ball list that was posted this week has names that show up on both lists and other players show up on one and not the other so I was wondering what list the tournament director was looking at. I did not know if the tournament director was looking at...

the BCA top 125... http://www.azbilliards.com/tours_and_events/bca-ranking/

or the AZ top 125... http://www.azbilliards.com/people/azb-money-leaderboard/2014/all/

where is the player's list for this year's event? you said there were some players in the top 125 on that list.

I agree with culookn.

According to your rules there are two players that should not be competing in this tournament.

Last year masters and above were supposed to spot the field 2 games and when we show up the rules were changed to even.

This is the biggest complaint that happens to tournaments. Once you start excepting entries rules cannot be changed unless voted by the players who have already paid.

I'm bringing seven guys with me. Can we be reimbursed for our money for all events since your are letting some of the top 125 players in?

Who are the 2 players? Alex Olinger and Dee Atkins?

Alex is an Advanced player and not even a master in BCA

Dee is a master - yes great 1pocket player and past pro...he is nothing he was before his accidents...he played last year-and placed 4th - 8ball, and around there in 9ball.

Show me where they are listed as pros ranked under 120. As for a refund, let me know...I will be glad to give your money back as I have a waiting list.

i was actually trying to find that BCA list on AZ but couldn't find it before...I am checking into that now...I know of one person regardless that will not be allowed and that is Billy thorpe...I will review all info now...

I agree. If I would have known about these players before I paid, I would have never taken off of work and drive several hours to play against these players. I would ask for my money back but I already took off of work. I thought all players were going to be checked . I know of a few guys that are playing on the same team that are masters and I was pissed after they told me but it is too late now. It will not happen next year.

Rankings

CULOOKN- Thanks for that BCA Rankings...the sheet I had didnt have the indepth of names..I still cant find the list while searching on AZ but obviously go directly to the link you posted...

There are only 2 names in the entire tournament that are on this list and that is billy thorpe and david grossman...

Alex Olinger has met the guideline as being TIED for 117 to make him ranked 121 overall.

If you see any other names I may have missed please let me know...we are trying to make this the best event of the region and it is tough work. Thanks for all the input...I try to please everyone...just not easy.

AGAIN, I have checked the teams...There are no 2 masters on a team...if you believe there is then just tell me the players and not complain about it...this is a regional event, you are going to get GOOD PLAYERS & GREAT PLAYERS....they practice and they work at their game...This is a sport just like any other and we are trying to have an event that will benefit everyone here...I pay out more than any tournament you can think of in this country...I do not take all the money for myself like all the rest or even the nationals...if you want your money back send me the email and I will refund your money and have the hotel give you money back...very simple...if you think you are going to get into an event and play bums it will never happen...I thank everyone for their input not their criticism for complaining. Give me logic details and they will be looked at...

BTW- Last year was changed so we could finish the event...the casino screwed us over on the additional space. We needed to change races and format to finish. This year is different and should be a great event...I hope to see everyone there that has signed up for this experience..

I will be calling you tomorrow for refunds.

And you can't just go off of the bca rankings. There was only 7 bca events in 2013. So hypothetically speaking a player could win the US open 9-ball championship and still be able the play in your event because it wasn't sanctioned and ranked by the bca.

You need to cross reference several different lists to determine who are the tops pros.

Hopefully you get the bugs worked out in the future.

As far as changing the format last year because of the casino, there is no excuse for changing it without the majority of players agreeing. We signed up for an event and when we arrived the event has changed. It's unacceptable.

How would feel if you booked an all exclusive vacation and when you show up they tell that food and drinks are not included anymore due to then being screwed by the food and beverage distributor? You would feel cheated. It's the same feeling players felt last year and if this event keeps, growing your going to get alot of "pros" not on the bca list robbing the league players your whole event is based on.

Again Braveheart...HOW ARE THE PLAYERS that you are discussing? I do cross reference...VNEA is a joke on rankings...NAPA makes A players of 90 ranking masters...BCA is the best ranking...I keep the top players out...If you want out and a refund...just post your name, team name, and players you want the money back from...I will be glad to do NOW...I'm not waiting till the day of the event...no refunds if tomorrow..

The BCA points are down the bottom of the AZ home page. Sorry, I did not mean for all the kaos to start over the player list I just was asking the questions after I saw Alex Olnger on the front page of AZ for winning a Midwest 9 ball tournament and also for him placing in the money at the US Bar Table championships last week. He finished 9-12 in 8 ball and 17-24 in 9 ball playing against the best players in the world on bar tables. He beat Justin Bergman and Hunter Lombardo in 8 ball. Here is what I am referring to that I saw on the home page middle of last week...

Here are the US bartable results...

He is now 39th on AZ money list... http://www.azbilliards.com/people/6485-alex-olinger/

I will be going no matter what. The better the players just means the faster I get to heavy beer drinking. I just wanted to know how many cases to bring with me on Wednesday...

I finally found the list you posted...on the bottom of the front page...Alex is by far a strong player and still only an Advanced player some how on BCA list and ranked 122 with the tie on the BCA Standings...I do not count the money list...that is all chump change unless you are top notch pro...he comes and plays at my pool hall and has one 1x and not cashed 3x while placing the other times in the money...Dee Atkins is great as well yet didn't win last year and only place 3rd place. I have turned down many players for this event that were on the list and ranked as a grand master or top 120 pro.

Players will always be up and coming or experienced yet not be at that level not allowed per requirements...as it stands now, Dee and Alex will both not be allowed in Next years event...only because I know they will have reached the standard above everyone else in the event.

I hope everyone has a great time...it is hard work to put this together and pay out over $40,000. I can only say it will only get better each year.
