The question still has yet to be answered whether any house cue conversions have actually SOLD for $2,000 or more or whether this claim is based on asking prices. Asking prices don't establish market value as much as some sellers might like to think it does.

When embarking on one of these projects, full time professional cue makers don't take just any house cue. It has been related to me by at least one professional that not all Titlists are candidates for conversion.
Thus part of the cost of the conversion of a house cue is the experience of the cue maker and his examination of the house cue for it's suitability.
This also leads to another point about custom cues and their makers. They select and use only a % of what they are supplied for shaft wood and/or blanks.
So in summary, if the inference is why do some people overpay for cues, it is because they have the means and the desire.
If the inference is why does it cost so much for someone to install a pin and insert and attach a butt cap, you have no understanding of the work involved.
